"In an attempt to evade the harsh realities of life, I hide within the walls of a house I constructed from the fragments of our past memories... "

"I can feel your heart beating so fast, what's up, sweetheart?" I asked as I held her tightly in my arms, brushing my lips against her hair.

"I... I don't know how to say this," she stuttered, fidgeting with her hands.

"Just take a deep breath and tell me what's on your mind," I reassured her, looking into her eyes.

"I'm afraid... afraid of losing you. Losing us," she finally blurted out, tears brimming in her eyes.

I hugged her tightly, "You don't have to worry about that Sam! I am never leaving you. You're stuck with me forever," I whispered, kissing her forehead gently.

Her face eased up a bit with my words like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

"Alright! How did my little man's birthday bash go?" She tried to divert the topic.

"Hey, are you sure he is only your little dude? Didn't I contribute anything in bringing him to the world, huh?" I teased her as I tried to coax her into bed. She couldn't stop giggling, but my expression suddenly turned serious when I mentioned how happy he was.

"He was over the moon, Samantha. I mean, you should've seen him. He had the biggest grin on his face the whole time."

"Then why the long face, Ash?" she asked, her eyebrows furrowed in concern.

I took a deep breath before responding, "It's just...I don't know if I can handle everything on my own anymore."

"Hey, look at me," she said softly, placing her soft palms which had some scars from fights on my face to console me. "You're doing amazing, and you're an awesome dad."

I leaned in and kissed her softly, "I love you, Sam," I whispered.

"I love you too, Ash," she said, snuggling closer to me. "Now get some rest, okay? You need it."

It was the dead of night, about 2 a.m. when I was jolted awake from my sweet nightmare. It's hard to describe. With my eyes closed, I can only see one face - hers. But when I open my eyes, she's nowhere to be found in the real world. I'm not sure which part is the true nightmare - the reality I'm living in or the dream that I so desperately want to be real.

I wrapped up my office work around 7 in the morning. I expected to see Matt sulking in his room, but instead, I found him laughing and chomping on the breakfast table with Denver, Felix, and... hold up, what's she doing here? The party's over, like, centuries ago!

"Why are you still here?" I growled, frustrated and angry as I stomped to the breakfast table.

"Mr. Jackson...- Hey man, chill out," Denver interjected, trying to diffuse the situation. "I asked her to stay because it wasn't safe for her to go home alone in the middle of the night. Plus, she's new in town."

I glared at him for a moment before turning to look at the girl in question. She avoided my gaze, fidgeting with her fingers nervously. I couldn't deny that I was a little curious about her. Who was she?

"Yeah, whatever! I don't want this to happen again, keep this in your fucking mind." I snapped before storming off to my room to freshen up.

"Why is he always in such an arrogant mood?" I overheard Jane whisper to Denver and Felix, but I chose to ignore her.
