"I'm telling you, that place is twisted." I shook my head as Chase stuffed a burger into his mouth.

He bet he could eat one in two bites. He lost.

"You should've seen the cat. It was something straight out of a horror movie." I fought a gag, remembering it. "And I'm left to wonder what sort of horrendous creature is lurking around that would do something like that to a cat."

"A leopard?" Chase offered and Emmie smacked his head.

"You know he's stupid. Leopards." She scoffed. "You're safe. Nothing is waiting in shadows for you. Animal fights do get dirty, you know."

Well, I do. Now.

"How's Coco?" Chase asked.

Within the few weeks she was here, Coco did manage to make a good impression on Chase. And vice versa (provided that she still doesn't know he referred to her as a 'cool aunt' he never had.)

"She's great. Got a text yesterday saying they're off to Paris." I smiled.

Even though her trip has left me feeling alone, it did have quite a good effect on her.

"When I start saving up my money, I'm going for a world trip." He sighed.

"What do you mean, when!" Emmie snapped her head towards him. "Does that mean you're not saving anything now?"

His face clearly showed the answer.

"What are you doing then? Just spending every penny you get?" She squeaked.

"I didn't say that! I have money in my account, but I'm not like... saving it."

And then came a long lecture about 'not taking life seriously' until the lunch break was over.

Poor Chase.

I was expressing my pity and sympathy for him when my phone screen lighted with a message.

cannelloni: No. But if you insist, I will.
cannelloni: And before you say it, yes I know you texted the wrong number and I know you're sorry.

Oh, shit.

He was right. I did text him, asking if they reached Paris.

Great. I copy pasted the question to Coco this time, (after making sure it indeed was Coco and not cannelloni) and then changed his contact name from cannelloni to Caleb.

I am sorry. I hope I didn't disturb any meeting of yours.

Since Sebastian was very busy, so was I. So his immediate response was not opened until I got home.

Caleb: Do I detect a hint of mockery in this particular text?

And that brought a smile to my face.

Anything you want

I bit my lip the second I sent that text. Am I doing this? Am I really going for a flirty angle with cannelloni?

Meh, whatever. He's cool, good-looking, gentlemanly....

"Yeah, right. As if he's available." I murmured to myself as I opened the closet door and frowned at the dress right infront of me.

How did this thing end up in the closet? I'm pretty sure I didn't unpack my 'sexy dresses' bag.

I looked up. "Is this a sign, universe? Are you telling me I should wear this and be a hotshot today? Is it because I'm finally going to get a date in Newyork?"

I sighed, pushing the blue dress away to take my skirt. "What is up with that anyway? Am I not good enough for these Newyork boys? Well not the entire Newyork, but still..."
