When the two came back to their right mind, Cordell felt ashamed of himself. He should have been stronger and wondered what in the world had caused them to even appear. Emily had always been beautiful to him but no way did he just want to sleep with her. Cordell decided to avoid her for awhile thinking she would hate him for what happened. However after about five days he couldn't handle the look she always gave him when she looked at him. It made him feel a hundred times worse and want the world to swallow him.

He found her after school later trying to apologize but she interrupted apologizing to him.
"Cordi I'm so sorry, I don't know what came over me," she said. "We don't have to talk about it every again but please don't keep avoiding me!" She cried.
"Em why are you apologizing? I'm the one who should be sorry," He responded. She hugged him still crying and asked how they could move past this. "I don't know yet, but whatever happens I don't want to do it without you."
"I don't either," Emily said. "Can we pretend it never happened?" She asked.

Cordell didn't know if he could do that, he hated how everything had gone down. Yet he couldn't deny the fact that he wanted to be with her. Before he could say anything Emily suddenly became a little green and her cheeks flushed.
"Emily are you okay?" He asked.
"I don't know I've been feeling nauseous for the past hour, I think I'm really stressed." She admitted.
Cordell knew that it wasn't just that but he offered to take her home just in case she was getting sick. Emily agreed and tapped her fingers on her lap nervously, and unable to stop himself Cordell grabbed her hand.

He expected her to push him away after what had happened but she gave him a small smile and tried to fall asleep. Cordell didn't talk to her after that and spotted Adrian being yelled at by another girl. It was Denise Davidson and whatever happened must have been awful. He thought much about Denise over the years, when her family moved after he saved her from the fire. She still showed up the school unannounced almost daily trying to talk to him. At first Cornell thought he could be friends with her again but something about her had changed. Her eyes narrowed whenever another girl was around him and she even tried to grab his arm a few times. So he had decided to avoid her for now, hopefully she would come around later.

Things seemed to improve after that as he took her home and spent the day taking care of her. He thought about what she had asked and decided that it would best not to talk about it. As much as he wanted to be with her, they were friends first and he had to respect that. So he wasn't going to bring that night up again unless she asked.

"What do you mean it didn't work!" Denise exclaimed. "You promised me that if I helped you we would both get what we wanted!"
Adrian wiped the spit from her mouth off his face before shrugging. He didn't have time to deal with her temper tantrum when he had to focus on other ways to court Emily. Being patient and leaving gifts for her hadn't worked, neither had asking her to the dance where they would have had a great time. So he needed a different plan otherwise Cordell Walker was going to swoop in and take what was his. The ranch boy had already managed to one up him, he wasn't going to mess up again.

"Keep your cool," he said. "We are just going to have to be direct before the two of them get together."
The introverted teen took out one of his sketch pads and started drawing something on it. Denise said this wasn't the time for art work but Adrian kept drawing despite her words and handed it to her. She gasped and shook her head, and Adrian felt his anger rise dangerously.
"No I'm not going to give him Meth that's terrible, that could really hurt him." She declared.
"I thought you were willing to do anything?" He asked.
"Yes but we already spiked their drinks with a bit of cocaine, I'm not drugging him again."

Adrian internally lost his cool but hid it with a smile and threatened to expose her to the police. Shocked Denise tried to leave but the blonde had locked the door, so her attempts were futile. He walked over slowly and cornered her, she flinched when he began touching her.
"I thought you might try that, so are you going to do it or not?" He asked.
"You can't do this." She said.
"Oh but I can, you have no idea what I can do." He responded. Tears welled up in Denise's eyes and she nodded not wanting to to risk getting raped. "Good I knew you would see things my way."

Adrian patted her on the head and gave her a list. Denise was shocked when she saw what was on it.
"You want to steal artwork?" She asked.
"Not just any artwork, the paintings listed will come in handy later on, I just have to find them all." He responded.
"Just what are you planning to do?" She asked. He didn't answer and went back to drawing in his sketch book. Denise shrugged her shoulders when it became clear after her third time that he wouldn't talk so she left. He smiled as he glanced down at his sketch book which was filled with drawings of Emily and himself.
