Cordell came across Emily later that day as she was reading a book under a tree. He thought she looked so pretty whenever the wind blew through her hair, showing off just enough of her face. Her mouth quivered a bit whenever she read something that she didn't like and with sweat dripping down his face he approached her. He didn't want to be nervous around her as they had been friends since middle school, but something was different this year. Every time he saw her it was like he was seeing her for the first time.
"Hey Emily." He said.

She looked up and her face brightened. "Cordell there you are, I've been waiting for you."
He smiled and sat down next to her, she talked all about her home life and how her grandparents were on her case again. Cordell just listened as he didn't want her to worry about getting a job already when they were still in high school. They were seniors but still the main concern should be getting to graduation, and getting into college. Cordell didn't really want to go to college, as he wasn't sure if that's what spoke to him. His calling was to help people, he just didn't know in what way yet. Plus if he had to sit in a room with a middle aged guy talk about something that happened centuries ago he was going to scream.

He got lost in her words until she asked him if he was feeling alright.
"What?" He asked blinking.
"You zoned out for a whole minute there," Emily said. "Are you okay?"
She placed her hand on his arm making his cheeks burn. He could smell the scent of her lavender perfume and her green apple shampoo.
"Sorry I'm just thinking," Cordell answered. "Miles got on my nerves again, I really wish the guy would disappear."

Emily told him that he shouldn't wish that on anyone as no one deserved to just disappear. He almost envied the fact that she was able to see the good in everyone and everything. Where she got that he would never know as she had lost her parents when she was young yet still kept going.
"Remember what I've always said, without suffering there would be no compassion." She said.
He looked at her and thought about kissing her but decided not to at the last moment. His friends would have called him out for being scared to ask out a girl. However he just wanted to make things easy for her so he made his move, when she brought up that Adrian Smith had tried asking her.
Instantly jealous he instantly asked her and she beamed at him.

Days later Cordell was having the time of his life, it didn't matter that he was a horrible dancer and Emily was equally as bad. The two danced together until they both got tired and decided to get some punch. Adrian was the one serving it and after a brief encounter where Cordell and Miles scuffled. While Adrain watched and Emily tried to stop everything, the two teenagers left the gym for a bit. Maybe it was something in the punch or how Emily looked in her red dress, but Cordell started to feel funny. Emily didn't seem to be fairing any better as she began cuddling with him and saying silly things.

"Emily I think we should ask what was in punch." Cordell suggested.
"You're so handsome." Emily responded.
She surprised him by rubbing his face and that's when he noticed her pupils were a bit dilated. He grabbed her drink thinking it had been spiked or something but the strange feeling over took him again. At first it was light headness then confusion followed by how entranced he was with the girl in front of him. A part of him wanted to ignore his sudden lustful thoughts but his brain was cobwebbed.
"You think so?" He asked.

"Yes do you know how long I've waited for you to notice me?" She responded. "I wanted to claw at those other girls for wanting you."
Her speech was slurred but he was too confused to notice, he thought it would be alright if they just waited it out. Everything that happened after that was mostly a blur, Cordell admitted that he liked her and she kissed on the lips. One thing lead to another and the two got busy in one of the classrooms. If the two weren't together before they were now, as this act would change their lives.

Adrian waited for Emily to come back as he was hoping his plan would work. He checked his watch for the 100th time and she still hadn't shown up. Emily was made to be with him, her kind nature couldn't belong to anyone but him. So when his plan of getting her drunk so he could have a least one night with her, he decided to do some investigating. Adjusting his tux and sliking his blonde hair back he searched the school for Emily. Only when he saw them, she was kissing Cordell, his Emily was kissing another man. More than that judging by the state of Emily's dress and Cordell's rumbled up shirt. Adrian knew they had sex, his face became hot and his made fists in his hand. His vision was clouded with red and he was itching to make Cordell pay for stealing his girl.

A/n Hey guys I'm finally back with this I'm sorry for putting it off so long I've been acting with my other stories and the school and I know the chapter is  kind of short but this prequel is going to be a little short and as you can see the relationship is already getting started and it's not fast it seems really fast right now but eventually you understand why it seems fast maybe some of you are figuring it out what Adrian tried to do. As you know in the future he takes advantage of people. Anyway I hope you still enjoyed this chapter and I'll see you in the next one. -Clato3
