Everyone knew her in her town, she was a bubbly girl who always had the biggest beam on her face, her happiness infected every soul around her.
People would bump into her as she was walking down to the nearby library or pushing her sister on the swing set in the local park. They would nod at her politely and she would smile back.
She would often be found taking walks with her mother and sister, her long brown hair moving up and down in the winds. When she passed, if you paid enough attention you would see her hastily pushing the frame of her glasses up her nose as it slid down constantly or how she covered her mouth with her hand as she laughed to hide the insecurity behind it.

Although the way I described Lorelai Moore may make her appear as the main character, the it girl. She was not.
Lorelai Moore was a quiet, shy nerdy girl who just entered year nine in secondary school. She wasn't physically gifted, if you know what I mean, neither was she necessarily intellectually gifted however she had more hope in that department than the other.
Her skin was ghostly pale, she had was asked the majority of the time if she was ill. She never cared for her hair so it stayed in a scruffily placed side part with baby hairs poking out everywhere. Leopard print glasses laid upon her nose, enhancing her oddly shaped nostrils. One eye was always slanted or slightly more closed than the other so she was constantly asked if she had a lazy eye. She really wasn't very pretty, not that she cared.

However then Lorelai grew up, she had what most people would refer to as a 'glow up' or the 'peak' in teenage years. She had gradually grown out of her awkward stage.
Lorelai started to put effort into her appearance, she curled her hair, she wore makeup, she fake tanned. It may not seem to be a big adjustment but I assure you, Lorelai at thirteen was a whole different person to Lorelai at sixteen. However it was not just her looks that had changed.
Her personality was different. She focused on her looks entirely, draining every amount of energy into it. Without tan, without makeup she felt ugly. Lorelai was so so terrified of being ugly.
The more attention she got from boys fuelled her longing for more. She lavished in the praise and validation she got from the random quick add boys on snapchat, but it wasn't enough. It never quite fulfilled her.
The one thing that fulfilled her was Noelle Sanders.
