On this night, Dai Shiyuan and Shan Yaxin both stayed up all night, keeping watch outside the ICU.
The most dangerous twelve hours had finally passed, but it was a difficult time for them.
"Xiaoyuan, thank you for staying with me. The doctor said the situation is stable now, you should go back and rest," Shan Yaxin said in a hoarse voice, standing in the corridor.
Although sadness was written all over her face, at least she seemed much calmer now.
Dai Shiyuan was relieved and dragged her heavy body back.
After a day and night without sleep, and with her mind constantly on edge, her body was almost at its limit.
Back in her room, she freshened up quickly and collapsed onto the bed, too exhausted to even feel hungry.
When she woke up, it was already noon the next day.
Feeling much better, the first thing Dai Shiyuan did was call Shan Yaxin, "Sister Yaxin, how are Auntie and Xiaoqing doing?"
"Xiaoqing has woken up, but my mother is still in the ICU. The doctor says the situation has improved," Shan Yaxin said calmly, with a hint of relief in her voice.
"That's good. I'll come over in a bit. Yaxin, what do you want to eat? I'll bring it for you," Dai Shiyuan said as she got dressed.
"Anything is fine," Shan Yaxin sighed lightly.
"Okay." Dai Shiyuan quickly got ready and headed out.
She looked around the building and bought a bowl of bone soup. From the tone of Shan Yaxin's voice on the phone, she could tell that her friend wasn't feeling well and probably didn't have much of an appetite. Drinking some soup would be more suitable at this time.
When she arrived at the ward, Dai Shiyuan heard a small, fine crying sound coming from inside. Her heart tightened and she quickly pushed the door open. She saw Shan Yaxin sitting at the bedside, gently wiping away Shan Xiaoqing's tears.
Hearing the sound behind her, Shan Yaxin smiled softly and comforted Xiaoqing in a low voice, "Xiaoqing, Mom is okay. When you feel better, I'll take you to see Mom. If you don't believe me, you can ask Big Sister."
At Shan Xiaoqing words, her pale face was filled with nervousness and guilt as she looked up at Dai Shiyuan, her eyes filled with tears.
Dai Shiyuan understood and walked over, putting down the bone soup and showing a gentle smile, "Xiaoqing, be a good girl and listen. When you're feeling better, you can go see Auntie. Do you want to see your mother?"
Shan Xiaoqing blinked her eyes and nodded, tears streaming down her face.
"Take good care of yourself and heal quickly so you can see your mother sooner," Dai Shiyuan reached out and gently wiped away the tears, consoling her softly.
"Okay," Shan Xiaoqing forcefully agreed, pursing her lips and staring at the IV bag.
Seeing her emotions stabilize, Shan Yaxin breathed a sigh of relief in her heart.
Not long after, Shan Xiaoqing fell into a deep sleep, tears still clinging to her long lashes.
Shan Yaxin gently wiped them away and turned to Dai Shiyuan, gratitude filling her eyes as she whispered, "She cried and screamed as soon as she woke up, and I couldn't calm her down. It's a good thing you came. The doctor said she just had surgery and shouldn't be emotionally agitated."
Dai Shiyuan nodded and brought over some soup, softly urging, "Sister Yaxin, since Xiaoqing is asleep, have some soup and rest for a while."
"I'm not tired," Shan Yaxin shook her head and refused.
