Too. Close.
Those were the words that kept repeating over and over in my mind, never ending.
He was far too close for me to relax. To not think of him, not that I don't always think of him. And with every brush of contact, butterflies flew in the pit of my stomach, their velvety wings tickling, making me feel like I was going to puke. After he came back in from his phone call he sat back down in the same spot. A spot that was way too close to me.
'Just be normal Y/n. It isn't that hard.' I looked over at him, remembering Chiyo's words on the way here. But that's the thing. When it came to him, it was impossible to be normal. I don't know how she does it so easily because when I see him, my heart yearns for more. My face burns when I make eye contact, even for a second.
I wish I could act normal around him. I looked up once more at him. Maybe then, we wouldn't just be friends. But to do that, I would have to be able to talk to him without the want to curl into a ball and hide in the darkest corner of the world.
But alas, there was a wall made of solid ice between the two of us, seeming as it would never melt. And as our drinks arrived, I reached my hand out, only to pull back when it collided with his.
He brought his hand to his nape as he slightly turned towards me, apologizing in the sweetest of voices and an apologetic smile that made my heart cry. I was glad we were sitting because I would have fallen to my knees otherwise. I laughed lightly, and when I took in a breath of air, I could smell his cologne. It took all my will to not get closer and surround myself in it.
"You're drooling." I jumped when Chiyo leaned towards me to whisper in my ear, snapping me out of my desire filled trance. As I wiped my face to see if she was bullshitting me, she handed me a drink. "You're gonna need this if you're going to survive the night." She whispered to me again placing the glass in my hand.
I took a sip, adjusting myself trying to relax.
"So Daichi," I turned my head to Tanaka speaking his name. "How's working at the station going?" I scrunch my eyebrows together. Station? Daichi-Kun took a sip of his drink before speaking. "It's going really well actually. Minus all the paperwork but that just comes with the job I guess, so can't really complain about it." He shrugged his shoulders, and a silent shiver when down my spine when I felt his arm rub against mine. Like electricity.
Chiyo spoke up from beside me clearly just as confused. "Wait station?" Everyone looked at her as we both waited for an answer. Suga spoke up first. "Oh yeah you guys don't really know you've been out of the loop for a while. Well Mr. Daichi Sawamura over here ended up becoming a cop after high school, and me I started teaching kids." Asahi spoke up next, "I'm a designer now, Tanaka is a personal trainer and Kiyoko now works for a sports store."
