"Hey.. Erm sorry I didn't speak much i er was a bit surprised" he said really nervously, his dark eyes slightly covered by his hair.
"It's okay" I replied, it was now of course my body's decision to be nervous too even though I wanted to come across cool and casual.
"I just wanted to erm say thanks I guess.. For like erm calming me down and stuff" gosh I sounded like such an idiot. A side smirk rose across his lips.
"Well... Should we take a quick er tour before the meeting?" He asked, slowly growing out of his nervousness.
"Good that" I said smiling. He stared at me already using the slang. He smiled back as we walked on.
"Well there's lots of jobs, but Alby will tell you more about the tomorrow" newt started. I hadn't even noticed the giant walls surrounding us, I had been to curious to even notice the obvious, I stared mouth wide open at the sight that stood infront of me.
"Hello?" Newt asked waving his hand infront of my face.
"Yeah sorry, I just was so oblivious that there are huge walls surrounding us" I stated.
"Yeah, it's the maze, we're in the middle of it all, our job: to find a way out" his last words hung in the air.
"Why hasn't anyone found the exit? How long have you been here? Does everyone go out all at once? If you have all day and night to find an exit why are you still here?" I blurted out all my questions.
"Woah slow down, look there's a reason no one has found out the exit, the walls move every night, the grievers will kill you any chance they get in the maze" he said.
"Oh sorry" I said feeling bad, of course they had reasons for everything, y/n you idiot.
"Me, Alby and Minho and a couple of others have been here from the start about 2 years" he said.
"2 years?!" I nearly shouted surprised.
"Yeah I know, we have people that search the maze everyday for answers their called runners" the last word rang in my head, it triggered something in my brain I didn't know what but it was there.
