I was scared, at first, when I started slowly backing away from the door.
Scared that Jared would chase me and punish me. Lock me in the dungeons, I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if this huge manor actually had dungeons in the basement.
But as I got further from the bedroom, my fear was replaced by disgust.
How could he allow those women to touch him like that? I'd bet he had bedded more of them. Way more, by the looks of their experienced caresses and his boredom.
If he was bored, why'd he do it? I wondered exactly how many women he had been with.
Shaking my head, I forced myself not to contemplate on these facts; I mean it wasn't even any of my business, was it?
I kept walking down the marble floored hall and came back to my bedroom.
Needless to say, I wasn't sleepy at all so instead of going inside, I decided to explore the mansion I was trapped in.
Was I really trapped though? What if I tried to escape? Jared hadn't even seemed to care that I was wandering around in the middle of the night. The place must be guarded. What was this place anyway? Who owned it? Where was my mother?
My head began pounding with all the unanswered questions. I felt helpless, like I was trapped in a tiny box, even though it was really a massive house.
I turned the corner and reached the landing of the grand staircase. It was made of dull colored, smooth marble.
Deciding to go up, I started ascending the stairs. Moonlight filtering through the long window on the wall next to the staircase guided my feet. The rest of the house was shrouded in darkness.
I reached the third floor and looked around. There was a long corridor here as well and another one to the right. I turned right.
Before long I came to a huge window and looking closer, I realized it was a balcony. I turned the lock and the glass door swung open with a small creak.
Stepping out, I inhaled sharply as I took in the view.
It was beautiful.
The mansion itself extended left and right, with multiple terraces, windows and stonework in the walls. It was all stone and marble with statues and gardens situated throughout the area. There were fountains in the extensive gardens and a circular driveway, with eight sports cars parked in it.
But that wasn't what made my breath stop.
As I looked beyond the the stone walls of the house, the beach came into view. From my high vantage point, I saw the ocean beyond the sandy beach, glimmering in the light of the full moon. I could just make out the waves crashing on the shore gently.
Everything was breathtaking, made flawless by the moonlight. I leaned on the stone balustrade, the light breeze playing with my long hair.
The ocean. My mind stirred. That was the Atlantic ocean. My hometown was five hours from the beach. I had been there only once, during summer break a couple of years ago with mom and Hunter. Five hours? That was a lot. They went all the way the-
My thoughts were interrupted suddenly by the creak of the glass door opening again.
Shit.
Someone had found me.
I could feel them standing behind me silently. It must be a security guard. Right? I hadn't seen anyone in this place yet except Jared and his women 'friends.' I wondered who else lived here.
