When I walked out into the hallway, I came across a tall and burly man, blocking my path. I looked up to see his face and shuddered.
There was a scar on one side of his face, running from his forehead across his cheek and down to his chin. His eyes were steel grey and pierced me like skewers. He was sneering at me, and I saw a missing tooth. He carried a gun of course.
This guy was scary as hell. I stared up at him, frozen in place.
"Is there a problem baby?"I shuddered again.
"Uh, n-no I-I jus-"
The door behind me opened and Jared's voice interrupted me.
"Bruce, what's this?"
Bruce didn't seem to be intimidated by him, however he did incline his head in respect.
"Boss, I was asking miss Dana if there was a problem, she seemed troubled as she came rushing out of the room."
Jared is going to turn me over to him, and he's going to kill me. Fuck. My legs were jelly.
"Thank you for your concern, Bruce but she just forgot something in her room and she was going to go get it." Jared sounded ticked off.
I nodded my head emphatically, and made to go across the hall to my room.
"You're dismissed Bruce. And tell my father I had an amazing time with her."
I looked back at him sharply, almost snapping my neck in half.
He winked at me, his lips curling up slowly.Bruce looked between the two of us and walked back to the front of the hall. He sat down in a chair, still watching us.
I sighed and walked to my room.
Now what? I'd have to go back to him since we were being watched.
But he made me so mad.
I realized I didn't really have a choice especially now that he had saved my sorry ass again.
I felt like a helpless little girl, depending on Jared so much, not a mature nineteen year old who could take care of herself. I hated being dependant on someone. I hated it.
I grabbed a handbag, stuffed it with random things; a book, a sweater, a hairbrush and some lotion, and walked back out into the hall.
Bruce watched my every move as I went and knocked on Jared's door.
The door swung open and I went in.
"Well, hello again. Looks like you're stuck with me." He looked so smug I wanted to slap him.
I ignored him and sat down on the bed.
"I'm sorry about earlier. I shouldn't have said that about your mom."
I looked up at him in surprise and my eyes narrowed in suspicion. Did he just apologize?
He chuckled when he saw the look on my face.
"I'm not saying it again."
"You think I'm going to have sex with you just because you apologized?"
He burst out laughing.
"Is that all that's on your mind? Having sex with me?"
"Wh-what? You're the one who wanted to see me!" My face probably resembled a tomato right now.
God, why am I so flustered?
He continued laughing, his shoulders shaking, until his laugh became silent. His head was thrown back, his eyes closed and his dimples ever present.
