»SURPRISE!!! |
The brightness of the sun prying through the shutters snatched me from my slumber, causing me to let out an annoyed groan. I squeezed my eyes shut, and turned away from the window, lazily placing a hand over my face when the sunlight still found its way to my still closed eyes. Letting out another sound of annoyance, I threw my arm to the side, frowning when it landed on the silky sheets. I opened my eyes and looked at the empty space beside me where Luke had been. Just as I began to wonder where he could've gone, the familiar smell of eggs and bacon invaded my nostrils. My feet touched the ground in mere seconds as I practically ran out of my room and down the carpeted steps. You'd think I hadn't eaten in weeks by the way I almost hurt myself hurtling down these steps.
Luke's vacation choice was Hawaii, a place I had never been. He rented us a beautiful apartment right beside the beach, allowing us to go outside with the sun and the waves whenever we wanted. I couldn't even imagine ever being able to afford something like this, but Luke has made his exceptional share with his new music career. I was flattered that he was willing to use his new earnings on something like this when there was literally millions of other things he could use the money for. Either way, I'm very proud of him for reaching his dream and starting a new career.
Besides, I kind of always wanted to date a celebrity.
My bare feet eventually slapped the tile of the kitchen, my nose still turned up in the air following the mouth-watering scent. There standing at the stove was Luke, wearing nothing but a pair of loose sweatpants. I approached him from behind, wrapping my arms around his waist and resting my cheek in between his shoulder blades. I closed my eyes as I relished in the sound of his heart beating, accompanied by his steady breathing that lulled me to sleep at night.
One of his hands picks mine up, bringing it to his lips as he placed a kiss to my fingers. "Mornin'," he chirped, running his thumb across my fingers. "Are you hungry?"
"Yes!" I answered immediately, releasing him. He turned around, handing me a plate before fixing one himself. I stood on my toes to kiss him on the cheek before I sat down at the table, him joining me. As we ate, conversation going between us, I couldn't help but think about how glad I was that I could be able to spend the week with this man. Of course I didn't deserve it, but when it comes to Luke, I'll take advantage of whatever I can get. Being away from the people who want to try and tear us apart was enough to make me insanely happy and I'll do anything to make sure it lasts.
"So, what do you want to do today?" Luke asked once he finished inhaling his food.
"Does eating and staying in bed all day count as doing something?" I asked him as I chewed my bacon, already knowing the answer. He let out a soft chuckle and shook his head, his eyes bright and amused. I rolled my eyes jokingly and slumped my shoulders, groaning. "Alright, fine." I sighed, looking out towards the expansive beach. The water was a crystal blue, shimmering underneath the sun as it spread back and forth across the darkening sand. Many people were already out there despite how early it was. I could faintly hear their laughter mixed in with the crashing waves, the little dots of surfers seen in the distance as they rode the water. "How about we...go swimming?" I suggested, looking back at Luke.

"C'mon!" Luke hollered at me from the water, water sloshing around his ankles.
I remained stubbornly planted on the sand, crossing my arms as I pouted. Luke insisted on getting me to surf with him, even though I told him before we left that I wasn't getting anywhere near a surfboard. I guess he thought, for some reason, that my mind was going to change once we got out here. I've never surfed in my life, I was beyond scared of falling off and hitting my head on a rock in the water. Or getting eaten by a shark. There's just too many risks; I don't understand how the people that do surf are so brave. They're crazy. Like Luke.
