Tonight was my date with Luke, and I was extremely nervous. Amber was in my room, she was sitting at the edge of the bed folding my laundry. She had been kind enough to clean my room while I wasn’t there. I looked around at my floor and then around the rest of the room, surprised to see how clean she had made it while I was briefly gone. She was a fast cleaner.

"Why did you clean my room?" I asked, as I walked towards her, lying atop my freshly-made bed.

"Because it was dirty," she replied as I grabbed my stuffed purple tiger and cuddled with it. "You should clean it more often." Amber was like my second mother, one that I hardly had any memory of.

"It was dirty for a reason," I stated matter-of-factly. "It was easier for me to find all of my things." We both giggled at my excuse, knowing that it was pointless and I was just a messy person.

Amber filled her arms with my folded clothes, and padded over to my dresser to put them away. "So,” she said over her shoulder. “Your birthday is just around the corner," she said.

I lied there petting the toy tiger, not taking my eyes off of it. I mean, it was just so cute. I looked up when Amber cleared her throat. She had her hands on her hips and her eyes were narrowed in slight annoyance. "Do you have anything planned? What do you want for your birthday? Does Luke know it's going to be your birthday soon?" she fired question after question in rapid succession.

I blinked. "No, nothing and no" I said dryly, answering all of her questions.

"Oh come on Bee!" she whined in protest. “Don't be such a puss about this, you know that Jake and Niki are not going to just let this go so easily! This is your birthday, not to mention after your birthday is Niki's." She went on and on. Niki and I were both born in the same month, less than two weeks apart: I was on the 14th while she was on the 27th.

"I know, I know." I sat up and smiled at her. "I actually already have something planned for Niki’s birthday, and besides, I just met Luke. My birthday is practically around the corner, and I just don't want him to know about my birthday yet because it's like, if I tell him then it'll be like me saying 'get me a gift'." I explained. I don’t want him to feel obligated to buy me a gift, that wouldn't be right.

"You know that Jake and C.J. are probably already going to tell him," she chuckled. "C.J. and Luke are actually becoming good friends."

I nodded and hummed in agreement. I had noticed that C.J and Luke have been talking more frequently, it was a good thing that they were becoming friends.

"He'll find out one way or another” Amber continued. “I don't see why you wouldn't want him to know. He'd probably give you an awesome gift!"

I rolled my eyes at her and then lied back on my bed again so she wouldn't see my pink cheeks. I don’t think I’m mentally or emotionally prepared for getting a gift from Luke. I would probably, like, die from cuteness overload.

"Brook!" I heard Niki shout, her scream closely followed by my bedroom door slamming open. I lifted my head to see both her and Jessica making their way into my bedroom. They both froze and gazed around my room with their lips parted in shock. Normally, Niki would try to clean my bedroom, but I would always tell her no.
