Matchmakers - Sirius Black

Chapter 2

"He answered! He answered!" Annabelle cheers as she clumsily runs into he common room towards her friends.

Lily shoots her a concerned look as she slips on the carpet and falls over, before the red head can attempt to help her roommate she's taking off towards the settee holding Sirius.

The pair giggle to themselves as they rip open the envelope and lean over each other to read it.

"He said yes!" She cheers loudly gaining the attention of the room. Remus rolls his eyes behind his book but a small smile tugs at his lips.

"Okay," Sirius begins, grabbing a pen and piece of parchment, "Dear Alexander McGonagall."

"No, no, no, Chris doesn't write like that, it's more like, 'Dear, Alexander'"

"How about, 'Dear Alex, my good friend'?"

"No, that's terrible, try this 'Dear Alex McGonagall.'"

"No, no, no," Sirius says with a shake of his head, scribbling out another line on the letter, "Dear, Alex'-"

"How about you just right, 'Dear Alex, this is Sirius and Annie trying to get you with a very shy Hufflepuff who we know has a crush on you, don't break our matchmaker streak and suck it up." James says sarcastically.

"That could work." Sirius says with a unamused smile, waving his wand to get more pieces of parchment.

As the two cupid wannabes begin to write a letter to her older brother, James lies back beside Remus and glances over his shoulder to watch Lily Evans, Annabelle's best friend outside of the Marauders.

"Staring at her isn't going to do anything." Remus says in a sing-song voice.

Drowning out the childish bickering the pair across from him are doing, James turns to look at his other two friends, "So, Moony-"

"Don't 'Moony' me." Remus says finally placing his book down.

"Just asker her out, Prongs, what the worst that can happen?" Peter asks shoving food he had taken from the hall into his mouth.

"Uh, she could hear me?" He says.

Sirius and Annabelle go quiet as they glance up at him making him raise a brow before the pair quickly go back to whispering quite harshly to each other.

He barley catches any of the conversation, "No, Chris flicks his 'g's like this...see?"

"And Alex doesn't speak like that, 'Hello, how are you on this fine crispy evening' what even is a crispy evening?"

"I don't know, like, when people eat a packet of crisps on a 'fine evening', Alex likes crisps, doesn't he, you know wh-"

"Paddy, just stop talking."

Having enough of their bickering James gets to his feet and casts one last gaze over to Lily before leaving the room.

Annabelle sits with her back facing the front of the room, Sirius sits with his chest pressed against the back of his chair as the two converse with James and Remus who sit behind them.

"You guys know you don't have to-"

"We know, Remy, we know, but we're choosing to. You're our best friend."

"Yeah, come on, Moony, you can't hurt us." Sirius adds on.

To help Remus with his werewolf 'problem' the group had become animagi, James, a stag, Prongs, Peter, a rat, Wormtail, Sirius, a large black dog, Padfoot and Annabelle a small Jack Russell, that Sirius decided he would 'ironically' call Belle.

James nods in agreement, before he can open his mouth the door is opened and in walks Professor McGonagall, "Before we begin this lesson I would like to say something."

Sirius and Annabelle adjusts themselves so they can see to the front of the class, "Miss. McGonagall, Mr. Black. If you could stop meddling in Alexander's love life, that would be great."

Some of the class laugh while others roll their eyes having been fed up with this after six years, "But, Mum, they're perfect for each other."

"Come on, Minnie, are you going to stop the perfection of true love?"

"When you pair have found your 'true love' come back to me on that topic." She says sternly before turning to the rest of the class.

"Anna," Annabelle looks up at the sound of her mother's now quite voice, "They're going on a date next week."
