2- Jealousy???

Chongyun's POV

There were two new students in class today, their names were Lumine and Aether, for some reason aether really caught my attention. He made his way to the seat right next to mine, I watched him unpack some notebooks and pencils, he looked in my direction and smiled, I felt my face heat up a bit as I smile back at him. Mr. Zhongli starts the lesson, I didn't pay it any mind though, all of my focus was on aether, I was just examining his face and how... pretty it was.

He looks over at me and catches me staring, I quickly avert my eyes and start fiddling with my pencil. I don't know why I'm acting like this, it's really strange.. anyways I need to focus on the lesson, I really shouldn't be distracted like this. I start to pay attention to the lesson but inevitably I lose interest, I catch myself staring in Xingqiu's direction, he had his head down on the desk, I'm guessing he was sleeping, this morning he did tell me he didn't get that much sleep. I sigh and continue to stare at him "Mr. Xingqiu? Are you awake?" Mr. Zhongli calls out in the middle of the lesson, Xingqiu starts to raise his head off the desk slowly.

He rubs his eyes and looks around in confusion. "I'm sorry what?" He says sleepily. "Mr. Xingqiu can you meet me after class please?" "Yes sir" Oh no, here we go again, I feel bad for him, no one wants to sit through one of Mr. Zhongli's lectures, he always gets off topic and talks about how things were different in his time. Typical old man behavior I guess.

Class finally ends and I wait outside the classroom door, after about 20 minutes Xingqiu comes out looking drained."Ugh, I swear if I have to sit through another one of his lectures I'm going to kill myself" I look at him angrily "Xingqiu, don't ever joke like that ever again." "Heh sorry, I know, I shouldn't have said that.." He looks away and stares at the floor."It's okay just please don't joke around like that, come on let's go grab some lunch." We make our way to the cafeteria, trying to steer our way through the crowd of teenagers. We find the lunch line and wait patiently for it to dwindle down. "Yun yuuuuuun can I have your juice please!!" Xingqiu asks me with pleading eyes "No? Why do you want it, you already have one" " Awww come on pleassssse" I sigh and eventually give in "Here" I hand him my juice and he jumps in excitement, he's like a child I swear. We make our way to the seating area in the cafeteria and choose a spot in the corner.

While Xingqiu was still gushing about the juice I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned around to see aether, he was holding a lunch tray. "Um hi Chongyun, do you mind if I sit with you?" His question caught me off guard, I wasn't expecting him to ask. "S-sure of course, I don't mind at all" Why did I stutter? Why did I get so nervous all of a sudden? He sits down next to me and starts eating his food, he's so pretty when he does literally anything. I glanced at Xingqiu and he looked.. annoyed for some reason?

I make an expression asking if he's alright, he nods and starts picking at his food. That's odd, he's usually excited to meet new people, while I'm lost in thought I feel aether tug at my sleeve, he looks at me and smiles "Are you gonna introduce me to your friend?" "Oh right! This is Xingqiu, we've been friends since childhood, he's a really good friend of mine" Aether waves and smiles at Xingqiu,"It's nice to meet you! I hope we can get along together well" Aether says very cheerfully, Xingqiu just gives a quick smile and goes back to messing with his food, why is he acting so strange? I'll talk to him about it after lunch.

In the meantime Aether and I talked about random things. "Why aren't you sitting with your sister?" I ask him, he looks at me and blushes "Well.. actually she's sitting with a new friend she made, uuum I think she has purple hair." He laughs nervously and scratches the back of his head."Ooh I'm guessing you're talking about Keqing" I ask him. "Yeah that's her name! I couldn't remember it for the life of me" he's so cute I swear- we both laugh at his forgetfulness, I look over at Xingqiu and he looks even more bothered than before.

For the rest of lunch we got to know each other a bit more, he's a really sweet person, he's really funny and extremely kind, I hope in the future I get to know him a bit more. Lunch came to an end and we both went our separate ways, I was finally alone with Xingqiu. "Hey Xingqiu.. I have a question to ask you" he looks at me confused and a bit worried. "What is it? Is something wrong?" "No, not necessarily, I was just wondering why you seemed so annoyed at lunch." He looks away from me and sighs. "Oh that.. hmm, I guess I should be honest with you my dear Chongyun" I felt my face heat up, I hate it when he calls me that because it flusters me. "Well you see, you were giving ALL of your attention to the new kid and you didn't pay attention to little ol' me" He puts his hand on his forehead and pouts, he's so dramatic sometimes.. "Seriously Xingqiu, what's wrong?" I look at him concerned. "There's nothing for you to worry about my dear" he smirks at me, okay he's definitely lying now, why won't he tell me what's wrong? I sigh and cross my arms, waiting for him to confess what's on his mind."Chongyun I'm fine really, I was just getting into my own head a little bit, please don't worry." He gives me a genuine and honest smile."Alright fine, I'll stop worrying about it for now" I smile back at him.

Hearing what he said concerned me though, the last time he told me he was 'getting into his own head'.. everything started to crumble, I don't want the incident to happen ever again. "Come on my love we have to get to class" He says as he starts to walk away. "What did I say about calling me that" I said while blushing, he sticks his tongue out at me and continues to walk away. While we walked to class a thought came into my head, could Xingqiu be jealous???
