5- Denial

Chongyun's POV

Here we are sitting in the nurses office, Xingqiu's asleep on top of me. "I'm sorry." I knew he couldn't hear me but I still felt like I should apologize, apologize for being such a bad friend. This is exactly what happened the first time, I couldn't help him, I wasn't there for him and he almost- it's okay Chongyun, he survived, and he's here with me, in my arms, that's all that matters.

He's been asleep for about 15 minutes, I don't mind staying like this for a while, we get to miss class and our absences will be excused. Luckily I ran into Aether and asked him to tell Mr. Zhongli about what happened, so he knows where we are, I'll have to copy down Aether's notes later today.

I wonder... why did he start crying all of a sudden, was it because of what I said? Or was it for another reason? He seemed fine this morning so what happened? Asking these questions is useless right now Chongyun, you can ask him about it when he's feeling better. But I had so many questions to ask, like why he was holding that blonde guy's hand, and why he decided to give him a nickname? What happened when Xingqiu was giving him a tour of the school? Ugh my head is starting to hurt, and it's getting hot.. really hot.. damn it I need to eat something cold, I need to cool off before I overheat. There's nothing near by and I can't get up, I don't want to wake Xingqiu, fuck just calm down, breathe in and out, try to stay calm...

Fuck it's not working- It's so hot.. my mind is starting to become hazy.. my breathing is becoming heavy... just as I was about to lose myself I felt my chest becomes lighter. Xingqiu had woken up. That's not good, I'm not myself when I'm overheated, what if I do something weird, what if I say something I'm not supposed to?? Damn it.. my mind is sooo hazy..

Xingqiu's POV

I wake up, my eyes feel so heavy, and it's really hot for some reason, I push myself up, still groggy. Oh I forgot. I was sleeping on top of Chongyun. When my vision focuses I see Chongyun, but his face is extremely red, and his breaths are heavy, he doesnt look too good. "Yun yun? Are you okay?" He looks up at me with a smirk. "Of courseeeee I feel amazing right now my dear Xingqiu~" Huh? That's weird, he rarely calls me that, and why does his voice sound a little weird? I take my hand and touch his face, he's burning up! Did he overheat when I was sleeping? Why didn't he wake me up?? "Hey Yun yun I'm gonna go get you something cold to eat okay?" Before I could fully get myself off of him he pulls me back on top of him. "Nooooo~ don't leave meeeee" He wraps his arms around me, holding me in place.

I wiggle in his arms, somehow managing to escape, but he grabs my arm and tackles me onto the bed. He's towering on top of me. "Seriously Yun yun I need to get up, we can get back into bed later but for now-" Before I could finish my sentence he covers my mouth, it was rather rude. "Shhhhh~ you talk too much darling~" He laughs and leans down next to my ear. "Xingqiu, I love you~ I love you soooo much, you're the prettiest boy I've ever seen, I want to marry you one day.." ......Don't listen to him Xingqiu, he's not in the right state of mind, he doesn't actually believe those things, he never will...

While I try to get rid of the bad thoughts, he leans in and kisses my cheek, he looks at me, his eyes look foggy, and he tries to kiss me on the lips. "Ch-chongyun stop- you're not.. you're not in the right state of mind, please stop before you do something you might regret." I could feel my eyes watering, I don't know why I was about to cry again.. Chongyun stops and looks back at me again. "Xingqiu..?" He suddenly collapses on top of me.

Back to Chongyun's POV

I slowly open my eyes.. I was still in the nurses office, I looked to my left and Xingqiu was sitting on a chair next to the bed. I had an ice pack on my head for some reason.. Oh wait. No I remember now, I overheated and I remember Xingqiu waking up, what happened after that? I sit up trying to gather my bearings, I look over to Xingqiu and he looked so worried. "Xingqiu.. what happened? Did I do something to you while I was out of it?" He shakes his head, he's obviously lying, so I did do something to him? Did I hurt him? I would never forgive myself if I did.
