Chapter 1

"Well...home sweet home." Varian said as they saw the castle.

Hugo looked at his boyfriend, his freckled cheeks having an excited flush, blue eyes sparkling and bucked teeth on display.

He reached over and took his hand, Varian looking up at him with the same beaming smile.

"You ready to meet the family?" He joked and Hugo nodded, leaning forward to rub his nose against Varian's.

"Ready as I'll ever be—"

"Well, well." A familiar voice and they both looked to the trees to see a tall figure. "If it isn't our favorite little traitor. And I don't remember this one. Did you pick him up on that year and a half away?"

"Wait, wait." Hugo said and stepped off the caravan. "Let's see, man bun, beard, and all in all a peacock in human form—"

"Pot and kettle." Varian said.

"Only for you, Babe." Hugo called up, then looked back at the man. "Hmm...Helga?"

"Hubert! I mean, Andrew!" He yelled. "Ugh! Because of you and the stupid unorganized prison system, only two of were able to escape confinement!"

"Me?" Hugo asked, fingers on his chest as he fluttered his lashes.

"No, him!" Andrew yelled, pointing at a missing Varian. "Where—"

He gasped when he was hit with a sticky chem ball.

"Classic." Varian said, chest puffed up as he looked over from atop the caravan.

"You're getting good at hiding." Hugo said.

"Urrrrgh! Clementine!" Andrew yelled, unbuckling his boots.

Hugo looked to see a small woman with a wand emerge from some bushes. He noticed it had a blue crystal tied to it and a pink gem inside.

"Ooh, you're different. Let's go to your lowest low~!" She hummed, the wand lighting up with a pink energy.

"Hugo!" Varian yelled, throwing a sticky bomb at the old woman and jumping down.

She gasped, dropping the wand as the energy suddenly shot and surrounded Varian, the man crying out and falling to the grass.

"Varian!" Hugo yelled and ran to him.

He fell to his knees and gathered him in his arms.

"Wake up, Baby. Please wake up." He whispered and rubbed his cheek.

"Mm?" Varian groaned and opened his eyes, then gasped as Hugo felt a fist on the back of his head.

He covered Varian with his body before a golden flash ran up his shirt collar. Andrew yelled, falling back and throwing something off his arm.

Hugo caught the gold mouse, she squeaking dizzily as he placed her in Varian's hands.

"Stay here, Babe." He said to a wide eyed Varian, kissing his forehead and gently placed him on the ground before hopping to his feet and tackling Andrew.

"Who are you?!" Andrew yelled at Hugo.

"I'm his boyfriend!" Hugo yelled and took out a vial, smashing it on the ground above Andrew, his hair trapped to a huge log by the same gluelike substance Varian had trapped Clementine in.

"No!" Andrew yelled, trying to tug it free.

Hugo heard hooves in the distance getting closer and quickly moved away to get in front of Varian, who looked around in a daze.
