Time had passed. The days had blown by like clouds on a windy day. Childe had heard no word from Zhongli or anyone in fact, he'd been in his room for too long to see if anyone had even called or sent a letter. He hadn't gotten up to go talk to the others since his 'date' with Zhongli. So he slept in and stayed up late thinking about all that happened that day. All that they had said at the end of their journey down the mountain was; Goodbyes and See you later. But later never seemed to come. As he watched the starlight coloring of his form twilight in the mirror Childe mustered up the courage to go ask Mister Zhongli on a date. He walked out of his room inside of the bank and waved everyone goodbye, but everyone could tell he was anxious. He bee-lined to the door and quickly began searching for Zhongli...
Mr. Zhongli was unbothered by everything around him, but you could sense he was just trying to keep himself calm till he could muster up something to do. He had no Mora, and it would seem greedy to ask Mr. Ajax, for money, especially after no contact after the date. He slumped in his chair at his desk. He was alone and had no one to talk to, but he enjoyed the silence while he had it. He looked around at the small details of the desk he sat at. Appreciating what work was put into it. He never looked much at his desk, cause he was never at the funeral parlor so he spent most of his days outside. Searching for things to add to the parlor. He wasn't wealthy but he just used what he could find. He spent his time looking through all the markings on the desk till he stopped on one relic, it was a statue, almost like the figure and stature of Ajax. But he moved on, he looked up and heard a knock on the front doors. ''Who could it be?'', He spoke softly and began his walk towards the front door.
Childe stood at the front door. With a handful of 'Glaze Lilies' {^} || He was well dressed but it seemed like he was covered in a sad aura. He seemed to be trapped in his own mind when he met Zhongli's eyes. He had nothing in his eyes, yes they were normally dead looking but today... It was something else. Childe spoke, ''Hello, Zhongli. Been a while'' His voice sounding almost death like, ''Oh how I've missed you my darling.'' He laughed and giggled. Zhongli was startled this wasn't like Ajax, did he have something to drink on his way over? ''Ajax. This isn't like you what has become of you?'' Zhongli began, ''Are you intoxicated?'' He seemed sorrowful for what he had done. Never speaking to him after that day.
''May I return to you?'' Ajax spoke, in his lifeless tone. Zhongli was startled. ''Return to me?'' Zhongli seemed confused by why he would say this. Childe tilted his head smiled, ''Aww, you are so cute when you seem startled.'' His smile becoming unsettling to the mind... Something snapped and Childe's eyes seemed to lighten back to normal and he snapped back up. ''What- just happened?'' Zhongli looked at him confused, he saw that all happen, it couldn't have been a dream... He looked away and then back at the man Infront of the door. He looked the same as he always did, what was wrong with that moment.
Zhongli thought no of it, for the rest of the night the two talked about what had happened that day, 'date day' they called it. They never thought to bring it up. Until later into the night Zhongli spoke out, ''What happened to you in that moment earlier, you seriously scared me, that whole head turn and smile... It was unsettling to say the least.'' Zhongli seemed genuinely concerned about it. ''Oh Zhongli, I was just kidding around with you, I saw Wanderer is it? Do it to Ei in Inazuma, looked like a cool party trick so...'' They talked all through the night till the both of them passed out on each other, they weren't bothered by what had just happened, they just seemed to embrace one another, and let all of those fears melt away in each others arms.
They awoke together, but they seemed to be a little disoriented, ''What- time is it?'' Childe spoke, Zhongli couldn't tell, but it seemed to still be dark outside, so he just shrugged, they both sat their in each others arms laying on the extra bed they had in the parlor, they loved each other deeply, but one did not know how to communicate it, and the other always expressed it.
Something was wrong with him... But what was it.
