Beatrice had returned to the keep and just in time for Cadman and her to meet.
"My queen, I'd like you to meet, Sybil Blanning. She is the head of the courts scribes."
Sybil respectfully bowed at her majesty's presents.
"I am honored to meet you, your majesty."
The court scribes where often never seen or heard of, since most of their work were behind the scenes, working in secrecy.
"While you were gone, I confronted the court about those documents. At first they weren't going to hand them over but thank the gods I've managed to persuade them."
Beatrice then asked.
"Ok, but way do we need a scribe?"
Sybil smiled in satisfaction replying.
"The court sent me to lead you to the documents since. well, you know...I'm a scribe and all."
Beatrice couldn't tell if Sybil was being sarcastic or maybe just nervous but whatever it was, Beatrice was already annoyed by this scribe.
"Well then, lead the way."
The scribe led them to the lower chambers of the keep. The lower chambers where a complex lay out of never-ending halls that lead to deferent parts of the city, which meant the lower chambers weren't even known about to the outsiders. And then there was the most sacred part of the lower chambers where the scribe led them to, which where the oldest part of the keep
"This must be the hall of records?"
Cadman said with curiosity.
"Yes, this is a sacred place where the scribes work without interruption. Everything you can think of is recorded in these chambers."
The scribe opened the great doors that lead to the first of many chambers which revealed large columns of books all labeled. Sybil approached one of the columns and took out a fairly new book and handed it to the queen.
"This is what you're looking for, everything the king did in order. If you can't find what you're looking for there are two other volumes on this column."
The scribe bowed and parted ways. Beatrice and Cadman took out all three books and searched.
"I'm not sure if it's any of my business, but what are we looking for to be exact?"
"I had a dream that pointed to these documents, maybe it's some kind of sign."
Cadman then replied.
"You can't really trust dreams there..."
Cadman froze for a moment after reading from the records, Beatrice grew concerned.
"What did you find?"
Cadman always knew the king went crazy, but this.
"Did you know the king had an affair with your old personal servant?"
Beatrice just rolled her eyes, she forgot about the times the king fooled around with her servants, even when she knew about them.
"Yes, it was terrible at first but then he did it more often, right about the same time he started to become mad..."
Cadman interrupted Beatrice
"But did you know that she got pregnant?"
The look on Beatrice's face was in pure shock, her face became pale and began to tear up.
"No... I wasn't informed."
Beatrice reached for the documents to see for herself, and sure enough the notes with a line underneath pregnant was made. This can't be what the goddess meant to be, a bastard child.
"See if you can find anything mentioning her giving birth to this child."
Beatrice felt betrayed by her husband, even from the grave he still hurt her just like those times long ago.
"Ah."
Said Cadman pointing to the notes.
"It says here that former servant to the queen, Mabel. Gave birth to a boy 39 years ago with the name of Marcus the Bastard."
The queen was overwhelmed by the news she had just herd even when it had been 39 years ago.
"Where is the Bastard?"
Cadman looked around and found some notes on the son's location.
"It says here that the Bastard had been sent off with his mother by the court to cover up the scandal. However, there are some newer notes saying she had returned to the keep working as the Landry maid."
"Then I must talk to her maybe then I might find this bastard son."
Cadman couldn't believe what the queen might be implying.
"You're not seriously thinking about making a bastard the king, are you?"
"No one has to know he is, will just come up with something, maybe he was disinherited or something. Will talk more about this until we find him."
Beatrice left Cadman and went her way to where the keeps Landry was taken care of.
