June 2018

Ashton begrudgingly followed Spencer out to his car while Calum explained to the group where they were going. The couple was silent the entire drive, each thinking differently about the situation. Spencer was prepared to do anything she had to in order to get Natalia to leave them alone for good. Ashton on the other hand was thinking about what Mathew said, about Devin helping Natalia and playing her game.

Pulling into the driveway and parking, the boy turned to face his girlfriend with one last sigh. "I still don't think this is a good idea, but I'm here if you need me."

"I know." She whispered, smiling softly before leaning over the middle console and giving him a quick kiss. "I'll be back."

Nodding at her as she climbed from the vehicle, Ashton played with the radio for a moment so he wasn't sitting in complete silence. The blonde hesitantly walked up to the door, starting to doubt that she could get Natalia to leave them alone entirely. But she had to try.

A quick and loud knock on the door left her feeling uneasy as she waited for the girl she used to call her best friend to open it. But instead, she just yelled from inside. "It's unlocked! Just walk in!" As the blonde walked in she realized how shaky her hands were, but found Natalia in the kitchen mixing herself a drink. "Hey bestie, did you want anything to drink?"

"Drop this whole act." Spencer rolled her eyes, leaning onto the counter across from the other girl. "What the fuck do you want so we can all get on with our lives? This is getting old."

"Devin's breaking up with me." She sighed, and Spencer almost felt bad for the girl in front of her when she saw the sadness washing over her face. "And I've already lost everyone else in my life, I can't lose him too."

She just stared in disbelief for a moment, taking in the fact that Natalia was truly trying to play victim. "What the fuck do you want me to do about that?"

"Convince him to stay with me." Natalia spoke like it was the most obvious thing she had ever said. "He said something about moving back home, and I really don't want to lose him, Spence."

"Have you thought about maybe being a decent person? Not blackmailing people? Literally anything better than what you are now?" Spencer didn't necessarily mean to come off so strong right off the bat, but there was no going back. "I mean he's probably sick of all the games you play."

The blonde assumed Natalia didn't know that Devin had come to talk to her. Unless Mathew was right and it was all just part of her plan. She could only hope that Devin was trying to do better. To be a better person, and maybe she could convince Natalia to do the same.

"Don't you want to be happy?" She asked, raising her eyebrows.

"I am happy." Natalia said defensively, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Really?" A short pause. "Because usually when people try to ruin other people's lives it's because they're miserable themselves." She quickly continued. "I'm not trying to be a bitch, this is just the way I've always seen situations like this."

"I'm not miserable, Spencer." The brunette rolled her eyes, taking a sip of her drink. "He's just the only person who's ever really understood me, and I'll say it one last time, I don't want to lose that. I don't want to lose him."

Silently studying the girl across from her, the girl she once would have done anything for, Spencer sighed quietly. She couldn't believe what she was about to ask. "Do you love him more than you claim to have loved Calum?"
