It is rather cliche the way my alarm clock rings at the exact same time every morning. A very odd thought though, because I set it at that exact time every night hoping to get a different result in the morning. I often wonder if the clock can by chance ring a second late but from my continuous observation, not very so because as it rings the clock across my bed strikes 6'oclock. The thought of the alarm clock move to the recesses of my mind as I walk into my bathroom at exactly 6:05, at 6:15 I am out, 6:25 dressed and ready to go and 6:30 seated at the breakfast table for my breakfast of toast and milk.

As ritualistic as it sounds, cereal does not sit well in my stomach and I prefer not experiencing the uncomfortable rumble in my stomach as I walk to my class at school. At 6:35, I am done with breakfast and waiting for my ride to school also known as my elder brother Devin Faith, a 19 year old brunette, tall, bulky with very bright brown eyes.

I am a contrast though blonde, average, lean with dull blue eyes. We each take after a parent, he my mother and I, my father. He walks in at 6:45 even though he is supposed to have come down at 6:40. he is dressed in a blue top over dark blue jeans and black vans. His varsity jacket is hung over his shoulder In a loose grip that I feared it might drop to the floor any minute.

"you are late" I state slowly. He looks at me with a mixture of surprise and annoyance.

"good morning, Einstein" he replies "I apologize for my inability to control how the hot water works". I roll my eyes at his pathetic apology. He knows very well how the hot water works, he just finds it entertaining to get on my nerves and mess my schedule for the day. I watch him as he eats his breakfast slowly, munching carelessly at the burnt bread he calls toast.

"can you hurry up?" I ask, making my voice a bit strong to pass across how serious I am. He chuckles and shoves the last piece of toast into his mouth, almost choking himself in the process. He gulps down his orange juice and grabs his school bag that lay in a helpless heap on the floor.

"let's go". we both walk out of our huge house, it was considered the second largest house and most expensive in the town after that of Eric Clint, a notorious classmate of mine whose matter I'd rather not delve into. Devin is a very fast driver, so I got to school on time, giving me ten minutes before class to organize myself and get ready. I am an advanced student and also considered an elite, for what reason remains a mystery to me. My school is different from other private schools, to become an advanced student one must be a top academic progidee hence there are only 7 of us In my class. The same 6 I see everyday as i walk into my class room.

There's Audrey Simpson, the school queen bee, captain of the cheerleaders, smart and witty, girlfriend of Felix Brown.

Felix Brown himself, captain of the football team, cocky, relatively stupid and flirty.

Rachel March, second to Audrey in all life endeavour, very smart pretty.

Greyson Knight, black leather boy, bad boy, skips half the school year yet still remains at the top of the class, every girls dream especially mine.

Neil Pasture, typical nerd, quiet, had a weird obsession with me.

Then the devil himself, Eric Clint, the nightmare of the entire school, he seems to know all and indeed knows all. A very avoidable person for me but he doesn't like to be avoided. Greyson sits with me in every class, since we do not move classes it is very unavoidable. We don't speak to each other if we can avoid it. We seat facing each other in two rows. The class is filled with chatter as they is no class.

Audrey is seated on Felix's desk having a deep conversation, Rachel and Neil are discussing a project but I can see her sending side glances at Felix, Eric is on his phone, Greyson and I are silent. Greyson seems agitated. He is tapping his finger repeatedly on the desk, emitting a sound I could smack him for. Eric drops his phone with a small thud, earning the attention of the entire class including mine.

"my parents are out for the weekend" he says "I was thinking we could have a party, just us".

Eric had parties all the time, they always ended in tears but he'd never organized one for us alone. It was a very suspicious move on his path because Eric was never up to any good.

"what is your plan?" Rachel asks, giving Eric a weird look.

He shrugs "just fun, games and talk".

"what's the catch?" Greyson asks to everybody's astonishment. Eric narrows his eyes at him. There has always been bad blood between the knights and the Clints, no news there.

"nothing" Eric grits "just fun".

"are you coming Felix?" Audrey asks, looking down at him. Felix shrugs and nods his head though he looks very sceptical. Audrey agrees to go and so does Rachel. Neil agrees too leaving Greyson and I. everyone looks at us, waiting for our response.

"i'll go if Imogene goes" I pause in reflection, trying to understand his statement. Since when were our lives ever tied together in anything.

"did I miss something?" Rachel inquires giving me a look. I roll my eyes and agree to come along just to get Eric's stare off me. Eric claps his hand in delight. "see you tonight, it's going to be deadly". Neil and Felix yelp in excitement but the word deadly sends shivers down my spine. School ends a few hours later and unfortunately, my brother wasn't there to pick me up already. As I walk out of the school doors, I see Greyson leaning on the wall watching as though waiting for someone.

"i thought you would say no" he says to me as I pass by. He was waiting for me.

I raise an eyebrow " I was preventing my untimely death". it was no news that all of us were basically threatened into coming for the party. Eric didn't have to say anything, he just had to look. I look away from him and spot Rachel and Felix in a car making out. Eric passes then, looking their way and looking away. Greyson looks at me with a blank expression.

"i'm not telling" I say and walk away.
