It has been a week and numerous events have occurred since Zion's mother and then Khalida's brother came to see us with documents for Zion. Khalida managed to persuade me to sign the paperwork, although even if she hadn't, we still talked about it. She explained that Zion is her responsibility, so I didn't want her to handle everything on her own. But now, with the upcoming wedding, both Khalida's and my family are frequently visiting, inspecting the house, and discussing wedding arrangements.
Today, Khalida is having bridesmaid photo-shoots at home, so I had to leave and go to the warehouse. As the wedding approaches, I can sense that Khalida still has conflicting emotions about the entire situation, but I'm relieved that she isn't as resistant as she was before we got together. Recently, it has occurred to me that Khalida might genuinely be excited about the wedding and will enjoy herself. Meanwhile, with all the ladies gathered at my house, it means that the majority of the gentlemen will accompany me to the warehouse to handle some tasks.
I have made the decision to inform them about the events that are likely to occur on the day of the wedding or afterward. I will share the plan devised by Khalida, enabling us to begin preparing and organizing everyone. Lucas is typically enhancing the surveillance, while Zaiden and Keyon are in the weaponry room, practicing shooting. As I walked around the warehouse, I observed that everything was functioning properly, so I went to have a conversation with my secretary, Sophia.
"Sophia, accompany me to my office, would you?" I requested, striding away from her towards my office.
Hearing a mink, I received a resolute "Yes, sir," as the sound of heels followed behind me.
Entering my office and taking a seat, I declared, "Please gather all of our payment files from the past 15 years or so, and summon Lucah and the others in here."
Nodding in agreement, she replied, "Yes, sir," before exiting my office.
After twenty minutes, everyone gathered in my office while I quickly glanced over the payment details. Keyon and Zaiden were still occupied with their tasks in the back, which involved handling the guns. As soon as they entered, I placed the files on the left side of my desk and prepared to discuss the plan. Essentially, I had made a decision and wanted to hear their thoughts on the operation, as well as inform them about their roles and the contingency measures.
Seated before me, he inquired, "August, what is the purpose of summoning us here?" He casually kicked his feet up, displaying a nonchalant attitude.
I sighed, disapproving of his behavior, and responded, "Well, it appears that a war is on the horizon, and unfortunately, we find ourselves caught in the midst of it."
Keyon leaned forward in his chair, seeking clarification. "What do you mean?" he asked.
Observing Zaiden lighting yet another blunt, I explained, "The New York and New Jersey mafia are instigating a war between themselves, using us as scapegoats. Given our position, we have decided to turn this situation to our advantage.
Walking confidently over to my bar, I pour myself a glass of brandy. "How did New Jersey and New York start a war? Aren't they allies?" Lucah questions.
"Well, they are allies, but their connections aren't that great. One always wants to have the upper hand. That's why I'll tell you this: the way this plan will play out, it will seem like we purposely involved ourselves. However, that's not a problem because one of their mafia is already missing half of their original inventory. That's why we'll send a message to New York to have a discussion, while our message plays the role of turning the tables."
"So basically, we have a death plan," Keyon acknowledges.
"No, we don't. Basically, all we have to do is steer their focus away from us and onto each other, as originally intended," I reason.
