Ch. 15

Everyone was sitting at the dining table for breakfast. Now with another new member, the seating at the table had once again changed. Red had been moved to sit directly next to Cross and I sat next to Horror. Everyone else was in the same spots they were before, most just slightly shifted. Everyone was talking while I sat there already done with my food, feeling a bit confused.

"Are you alright, Blue?" Nightmare asked, most everyone turning their attention to me.

I looked back to Nightmare and met his eyes, "I guess I'm just a bit confused. How do we have so much time to eat? Or maybe I'm just eating too quickly? We don't wake up that early either. What about training?"

Everyone stared at me in confusion. "What do ya mean?" Red questioned.

"Wait, is that why you don't eat that much? How much were Ink and Dream rushing you?" Horror asked.

"What do you mean he hasn't been eating that much?" Y/n finally spoke up. The others were now looking at them with more confused expressions.

"Sweetheart, how can you not be that observant?" Red said.

"No, I noticed," Y/n said, "I just thought since he is a smaller skeleton, he needs less of a food intake than, say, Horror. I didn't realize."

"Yeah no, he defiantly needs more than that. It's like he's barely eating anything!" Dust replied.

"Oh, I'm good, I really don't need that much more-" before I could say anything else, Y/n floated more food onto my plate.

"You should really eat more Blue, if you don't eat and sleep enough, you won't have enough energy and you'll get tired much quicker."

"But I-" I stopped before saying anything as they gave me a scary look. Their face seemed to darken as I saw a faint f/c glow in their eyes.

"Eat. Now."

"Y-yes ma'am," I quickly shoved the food into my mouth, only slowing down when Y/n warned me to not eat too quickly.

I could tell everyone was in quite a bit of shock as Nightmare continued on with announcements once done eating.

"As many of you know, it's another training day. Since Blue hasn't been getting enough sleep, he will sit with Error and watch the others."

"Blue, after dinner you are to meet me in my room for sleep," Y/n said quickly after Nightmare was done. I nodded quickly, finishing his food.

Everyone finished up eating, and we all headed to the training room. I sat next to Error, like instructed, as everyone else went to separate areas.

"Don't forget to not get distracted again," Error yelled to them all.

My eyes wandered over to Y/n. I saw they were going to be training with Cross, to which I got a bit nervous. I wasn't very sure they'd be ok. They were tiny and innocent, I couldn't see them fighting anyone, let alone Cross.

Cross summons his knives and Y/n a battle axe. I watched as they began to fight and was surprised by how skilled Y/n are.

Error must had seen my surprise because he then said "Took the rest of us by surprised too. Nightmare says elves are actually natural fighters. Fast thinkers too."

I had forgotten about their ears. When I first arrived, I didn't really notice them, but I was later informed about it. Dust and Red actually threatened me to not mention anything about it. I wouldn't think it would be something someone is sensitive about, but I supposed everyone had their reasons.

I watched in amazement as they continued to fight, and Y/n was pretty good at it. It was like I was entranced by them. Just when it seemed like Cross was about to have them cornered, they found a way out of it fairly quickly. I was mostly surprised by how easily they were able to hold their own against Cross. It seemed almost mesmerizing how fluid their motions were. I would even catch glimpses of the others taking grief glances at them as well.

Once training was over, Error teleported away, and I stood up from my crouched position as everyone started walking out of the room. I saw Cross talking to Y/n before they said good-bye and Y/n started walking in my direction. I got a little nervous, but also happy that they were probably going to talk to me.

they walked up to me, smiling, "Blue! How about we hang out some? Get to know each other a bit more."

i smiled at that, following them as they began walking, "Of course! I'd love to. Could I ask you something really quick though?"

"What is it?"

"What was that thing earlier? During breakfast, it was kinda... intimidating. Probably even out of character for you."

I saw something flash across their eyes, but it was too quick for me to figure out was emotion it could have been. It seemed they were good at masking their emotions. 

"What do you mean? I didn't scare you too much, did I?"

"No no, I just mean... well I don't know, it was just strange. I don't know how to describe it, maybe it wasn't anything too big though." 

They nodded and we made it to the living room. A few others were there, mainly playing video games and just being generally lazy, it reminded me of Papyrus, though they wouldn't be as nice as him. I sat next to Y/n and we talked for a time. I still couldn't believe someone so sweet would be here, they even forgave me for basically kidnapping them. I was stilled confused on one thing, however. 

"Y/n, if you don't mind me asking," I saw the other skeletons perk up a bit, they have clearly been listening in the whole time, "why exactly are you here? Like, working here I mean."

They gave me a bit of a weird look before answering, "Because we're doing the right thing, though, I think Dream just doesn't know he's doing the wrong thing."

Their answer just made me more confused, "What do you mean? Doesn't everyone here bring negativity to aus?"

"Well yes, but it's important for the balance of the multiverse. If there is too much positivity in the multiverse then no one would be truly happy, everyone would be stuck feeling one way forever. And when we destroy a universe, it's to make space for more, if there are too many universes within the multiverse, the whole thing could collapse."

"But why shouldn't everyone be happy? Everyone wants happiness, why not let that happen?"

They looked at me with an expression I couldn't quite explain, like a mixture of sadness and happiness.  "Because no one would get to know true happiness. You can't have the positive without the negative, Blue." 

Eventually it was time for dinner and Y/n once again made sure I was well fed. After the dinner, Y/n had me go to bed with them. I laid in their bed as they cuddled up to me and stared at the ceiling. I had to think over what Y/n had said earlier. Was it really true that Dream wasn't doing the right thing for the multiverse? I began to understand what they meant though. Without going through a hard time being with Ink and Dream, I wouldn't be able to appreciate being here now.

I am so so sorry to you all that I hadn't updated in a while (again). I'm hoping to try and update more as I'm figuring out where to go next with the story and finally being able to keep up with my schoolwork along with my mental health getting much better. I don't have the next chapter completely figured out yet, but I'm hoping to post at least one more chapter by the end of the year for you guys. Thank you all so much, I've gotten a lot of sweet comments on this story and I'm really hoping you all will like where the story goes!
