Why is everything so complicated? Everything so... real? I sigh and get snapped out of my thoughts by the car stopping quickly at a red light. My mom has never really been the greatest driver. I look over at her where she gives me a look that says 'sorry'. I just nod and turn to continue looking out the window.

A few minutes later she pulls into a parking lot where I look up to be overwhelmed by a huge building. A brick building with bushes lining the outside. I gasp. My mom just looks at me and smiles. We just moved here a few weeks ago so I had to switch schools. My old school had only one floor and about 5 classrooms. Compared to this, it was nothing. I slowly open up the metal door and hop out, my mom following me. We walk up  the grey stone path to the front doors and go in. "Welcome to Cali Hart middle school!" I young lady with red hair pops out from behind a wall. She startled me a bit but I try not to show it. I feel my mom nudge me in the side to say something. "Thanks." I say quietly. I've never been the most outgoing person. I'm usually the shy girl who people think don't even talk. The lady gives me a warm smile and guides me into what I think is the office. "Alright sweetie, what grade are you in?" She asks. "Eighth." "Alright."    she replies while starting to go through a gigantic folder. "Hmm.. why don't we place you in mr. wilson's class?" she asks. I nod knowing that it's not my choice even if she asks it like a question.

She shows me down the long hallways until we appear in front of a door. I gulp knowing that i'm going to be reffered to as the 'new kid' which I deeply hate. But I guess i'm kinda use to it. We pretty much move every year or two. Next thing I know, I man with black/silver hair and glasses shows up at the door intently staring down at me. I just stand there staring back. He eventually smiles. "Come in." He says. I nod and slowly walk in the room. "Class, this is a anew student that will be joining us." He points to me. I shyly wave and look a round the class. Everyone looked kinda mean, like the kind of impression you get when you meet the populars, you know? For a second I meet gazes with a boy, he didn't really look like the others..I quickly look away so it's not awkward and face the teacher. "Take a seat." He says and points to a seat at the back of the class. I walk to the back of the class and take a seat. I'm sort of glad it's at the back, so no one can really look at me. "Introduce yourself." Mr.Wilson says in a stern voice that scared me. I slowy stand up while everyone is turning around in their seats to face me. I clear my throught. "Hi, i'm melody, but call me mel." I say and quickly sit down. I hate being in the spotlight. I hear mumbles of 'hi' as they turn back around to face the front. I sigh. So it's this kind of school.. I feel eyes on me. I quickly glance over to see the same boy with the soft brown hair looking at me. "Yes?" I ask quietly so the teacher doesn't hear. "I just uh- hi." He says and I get really confused. Man, people here are awkward. I give him a slight smile and a nod before turning slowy to face the front of the class again.
