I can see myself in the mirror, but I can't do anything other than look. All I can feel is this overwhelming sensation of nothing. No feelings. No reality. No reason for living. Just a piece of mass taking up space in an empty room that felt too crowded.
I can see Liam in the mirror saying "hi", but I can't hear him or whatever I say back to him. He came in and sat on the bed. Then, I see my mom walking up to me saying something, but I can't figure out what it is. She leans down beside me, and I'm staring straight at her, but I don't know what she is saying. She is speaking so fast, I can't read her lips. Finally, like a light switch flicking on, I hear her.
"Are you ready, Lily? Chris will be here soon to pick you up."
"Yeah, mom. I'm ready. Why is he making us do this?" I say, exasperated at the thought that I will have to be around more than one person my age for the first time in years.
She just shrugged her shoulders and explained how it would be good for Chris and I to leave and be around people our age instead of a bunch of old men and women one day from hopefully croaking.
What she really meant was that I am too antisocial for my own good. At least she made it sound pretty.
I saw his face before I heard him greeting my mom and brother. My best friend, Christian, a.k.a Chris, walked into my room and sat on my bed, doing a handshake with Liam. He asked me if I was ready and all I did was stare at him like he was a clown trying to talk to me. Shut up or I will kill you.
I really don't like clowns.
All he did was laugh at my annoyance and then continue to talk to my family. I got up from my seat at my vanity and grabbed my bag by my bed. We all left my room and began to walk to the front hall.
"So, Mrs. Asra, what do you guys have planned while we are gone?" Chris asked.
Fighting with dad. Not having to see my dad was one of the things that I was okay with when it came to my new location.
She described her plans of going shopping with her friends and hanging with the moms at Liam's school, avoiding saying what we both knew would happen. A group of sinning Barbie mothers, how fitting for her. My mom looked at me as if she knew what I was thinking.
"Stop being judgy you little brat," she said with a joking smile, "try to get out there and make some friends. I will see you this weekend, if you plan on visiting."
She walked up to me and hugged me, saying that she loves me, Liam following after her. I wish I could say it back. I tried my best at a smile and hurried out of the door before my dad could get out of his meeting. Chris followed behind me after saying bye.
When I stepped out of the door, all I could feel was the heat. I looked around and see the flames surrounding the realm. Hell is so overrated.
As we walked through the flames engulfing the bridge to get through the mainland, I looked down at the lava mote surrounding our palace.
Chris started talking, "How are you feeling about our new living arrangements?"
"We've been banished by my father."
"It's just the human realm. Think about it - 9 months of living in a house, just the two of us, attending a human school. We only have to come back on the weekends, and even that is optional. It sounds like pure bliss."
"You say that like I want to live with you. It sounds like the second worst place to be."
"Stop bringing down my vibe, biotch. I'm happy right now. We get to escape our houses for almost a full year."
That was the only other part appealing about this, "here here."
"Wait, what is the first worst place?"
"Here."
He then preceded to start humming the theme song to Little Einsteins. Who was I to not join? After about 10 more minutes of walking, we got to the elevator (you heard me - the stairs are a lie) and began our trip to the next 9 months of our lives.
It is a pretty short beginning, but I will try to make them a little longer from now on. I just felt like this was a good start. Anyways, hope y'all enjoyed. Byeeeeee - Honey
