He was sprawled on the couch when Aubrey returned, and she couldn't help but laugh at the sight. He was still in his leather jacket, sunglasses and jeans, and yet looked more comfortable than ever, snoring away. His face was peaceful, almost softer when undisturbed by the waking world. It's a shame she had to wake him.
"Alex." Aubrey whispered in his ear, poking his forehead.
No response, which didn't surprise Aubrey. He was impossible to wake up in the mornings, and getting him up from a nap was a task nobody wanted to be stuck with.
"Alex!" She said, slightly louder than before. Nothing.
"Turner! Get the fuck up your suit is here!" Aubrey yelled, shaking his shoulders.
"Aubrey, what the fuck?" Alex jumped, knocking his sunglasses off his head.
"The concert's in 2 hours, and you need to get ready," Aubrey explained, shoving his legs off the couch to make room for herself.
"We already did a sound check, why do I need to be up?" He groaned.
"Because you need to get ready! I got your suit and everything, but you need at least an hour to do your hair." Aubrey reminded him.
"I don't need an hour! You highly underestimate my ability to do my hair in a rush." Alex raised his eyebrows, giving Aubrey a shove with his shoulders.
"Get real, you're always making us late, and Matt constantly complains about having to drag you to venues half-dressed." Aubrey scolded.
He groaned again in protest but got up and made his way to the table across the room covered in different types of liquor bottles and mixers.
"I'm gonna need a shot or two if I can't get a nap." Alex poured a generous amount of the amber liquid into a glass, handing it to Aubrey. She accepted, and he poured at least double the amount into a glass for himself.
"I'm not sure that a replacement for sleep." Aubrey laughed, sipping on the rum and wrinkling her nose. "Got any coke?"
"The drug or the drink?" Alex raised his eyebrows.
"Very funny, the drink." Aubrey rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, it's behind the martini mix." Alex waved his hand in the general direction. "I'm gonna get this suit on before everyone inevitably takes over my room."
The only downside to Alex's dressing room was that it usually became the party room. Matt explained this as he set down the liquor bottles hours earlier. Aubrey felt that it was more of a warning than an off-handed comment, and she quickly realized why he mentioned it as the band piled in. Trailing behind were sound guys, a couple of roadies and a few other people that Aubrey had seen before, but couldn't place where.
"I haven't even started on my hair!" Alex whined.
"Don't care, that'll take forever and Nicky wants to pre-game the first show." Matt smiled, waving another bottle in his free hand.
"It's tradition!" Nick shrugged.
"Where's Brie, Katie and Breana?" Aubrey asked
"They're all doing makeup in my dressing room, but they should be here soon." Jamie explained, pulling Aubrey into a hug. "You ready to get shitfaced for me?"
"Why am I getting shitfaced for you?" Aubrey pulled away from the hug to glare at him.
"I gotta stay sharp for the stage, so I'm not looking to get pissed. Anyone who isn't onstage aside from Alex limits their drinking, at least until we're done the show." Jamie elaborated.
