❦𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑇𝑤𝑜❦

Today is my 16th birthday, earlier this morning the council had made an announcement that there was a human/zombie settlement nearby, towards the west, and to steer clear of it.

During the party, the flock was hanging out around the springs, some were swimming in the water, some were sitting on rocks surrounding the water, others were standing around, eating and chatting.

I was sitting on some rocks near the small waterfall with my legs dangling in the water. With me, were my two best friends, Dixie and Dove. I told them about the town that I discovered, and they were ecstatic. They had also never seen humans before, and really wanted to see this town.

We knew that we were told to steer clear of the area to make sure we aren't discovered, but the three of us really wanted to go and see the humans. My two best friends especially, since I had already seen it the day before.

So, we decided that after sundown we would pack small bags with food, water and a few of the weapons that us dragon folk use, and would make our way to the area where the town is to observe the people there.

That evening, we convinced our parents to let us have a sleepover in our hideaway that night. Our parents said yes and to just be back by sundown the next day. We agreed and grabbed our things and flew in the direction of our hideaway. Once we were far enough away from the cave, and the sun began to go down, we changed course to head towards the town.

I took the lead since I knew where it was, and after a bit of flying, we made it to the outskirts of the town. Just like before, I landed on one of the higher up branches on a tree, my two friends following suit. We slowly glided from tree to tree to get a better look.

"Holy shit, there's actually humans walking around down there!" Dixie exclaimed. Dove and I shushed her so the townsfolk wouldn't hear us. Unfortunately, it appeared that one girl did. She turned her head to where we were perched, and squinted her eyes to try and see us better. The three of us crouched lower down in an attempt to hide from the zombie girl who had spotted us.

The girl looked around before walking towards the tree we were in. Once she was in earshot she called up the tree, "Hello? Is anybody up there?" The three of us shared alarmed looks with each other. I shifted my weight since my foot was starting to hurt from leaning on it too long.

That ended up being a HUGE mistake. When I had shifted my weight around, I had accidentally thrown myself off balance, and slipped off the branch.

I started to fall down the tree, trying desperately to grab ahold of anything to keep myself from hitting the ground, or being seen by this girl. I hear my friends, Dove and Dixie, shouting my name while climbing down the tree trying to get to me.

I tried to open my wings to slow my fall but it didn't work, because of how many branches there are, and how close together they were. I reached out once again and finally got hold of something, it was a branch near the bottom of the tree.

But because of the amount of momentum from the fall, I felt the bones in my wrist snap, and I let go immediately because of the shock and pain shooting though my wrist and hand due to the impact.

Then suddenly, I felt my body hit the ground. Dixie jumps down from the tree and lands softly next to me, and is frantically checking over me, to check for any major injuries.

"Don't worry Dixie, I'm ok. I think I might have broken my wrist though when I grabbed onto a branch." Dove also drops down next to us, "Uh guys, look..." she says, while pointing over to the left of where I was sprawled on the forest floor.

Dixie and I snapped our heads up towards the spot where Dove pointed to, and saw the zombie girl staring at us in shock.

I scrambled backwards, clutching my broken wrist tightly to my chest, realizing that we just got caught and feared that she would tell the whole town about us and that they would try and hunt us down.
