About me:
I was born in the beautiful Sierra Nevada region of northern California, where I live to this day, along with my parents, younger brother, and a bunch of cats. When I'm not working or writing, I enjoy gardening and landscaping when the weather and my allergies allow.
I've always loved writing and storytelling, but I didn't finish a novel until 2019, well into my 30s, when I started writing and posting on Wattpad. Since then, I've continued to write books in the LGBTQ+ paranormal romance genre, one of which, Bound by Blood, won a Watty in 2020. I was part of the Wattpad Stars program (2020-2022) and I'm currently a Wattpad Creator. My pronouns are they/them.
My favorite things:
Although I chose to study literature in college, I adore science, especially anything related to natural history. Paleontology, biology, and astronomy are among my favorite subjects to learn about.
Favorite movies and TV shows include anything Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, Alien (1979), Supernatural, Stargate, and Batman Begins. My favorite movie from last year was Nope.
Favorite books include The Shining, everything by Tolkien, H. P. Lovecraft, the Sherlock Holmes stories, Dracula by Bram Stoker, and Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
Favorite video game of all time is Skyrim. Others I've enjoyed include Resident Evil 5, Minecraft, Terraria, Stardew Valley, Dead Space, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
And of course I love any LGBTQ story with a happy ending. Favorite series in this genre include Whyborne & Griffin by Jordan L. Hawk and the Green Creek books by T. J. Klune.
My mentoring style:
I prefer to take a top-down approach, looking at the overall story structure, including pacing, beats, and character arcs. My favorite plot template is the 15 beat Save the Cat method. I also pay attention to the details of grammar and style, and my aim is for my mentee to come away with a polished manuscript they can be proud to present to the world.
