Natalia's house is even bigger inside than it looks from the outside. If that's even possible.
I walk in alongside the boys, careful not to separate myself from them. Inside, booming music pumps through the speakers, a cluster of people dancing to the beat on a makeshift dance floor. Farther into the house, some play a game of beer pong, huddled around the table. Couples, scattered around the house, sloppily make out against the walls, adding a thick element to the atmosphere. All these factors contribute the warm, heavy air in the house, despite the obvious AC and climate control inside.
The busy, overwhelming environment of the party pushes me to raise my guard up, making me feel as though the hairs on my back are rising.
I'm not really one for parties. I'm more than okay staying inside and watching Gossip Girl with Mom. Plus, I have a hard time making friends. Things just haven't been the same since Dad-
"-let! Hello? Violet!" Andrew pulls me out of my thoughts, shouting over the pulsing music.
"Huh? Yeah, sorry! What did you say?" I shout back.
"I was just going to get a drink, do you want something?"
"Um, yeah, sure! Thanks, Drew!"
"No worries Bean! What do you want?"
"Surprise me! No alcohol though!"
"You got it!"
Andrew begins to walking away, leaving me with the rest of the boys. Sort of. David is gone to god knows where, that man is a total mystery to me. He's just so...quiet. Elliot is talking to a scantily clad blonde girl, who is wearing an extremely flirty expression. She's eyeing him up and down, her back arched and bent so that her boobs are brushing against his arms. Poor sweet Elliot seems to be oblivious to the girl's obvious hitting on him. This makes me chuckle inwardly to myself.
"Love, you're doing that thing again" Luke says into my ear, taking me out of my thoughts.
"What thing?" I reply, taken aback by his playful mood. This man's mood swings are worse than a pregnant lady's.
"That thing where you smile and laugh to yourself like a psychopath" He says with amusement lighting his eyes.
"Oh you can suck a big one, Lukey" I huff, crossing my arms and rolling my eyes.
Luke chuckles in response, taking my hand and leading me further into the packed house. A weird tingly feeling settles in my stomach from his touch. Almost everyone we pass greets Luke, a pat on the back, a fist bump, or a "Yo Lucas is here!". Not to mention that literally every girl is drooling over him, staring as we pass by. I don't miss the way that they stare me down like competition. Trust me girl, he's all yours. He'd be easier to hate if he weren't so painfully gorgeous.
Anyway, general takeaway: everyone loves Luke. Unsurprisingly surprising. I guess not everyone shares the same opinions as I do.
"Where are you taking me?" I question loudly, my voice fighting to be heard over the latest extremely noisy song pulsing through the speakers. Luke doesn't respond, and instead just grips on to my hand harder.
What's his issue?
He pulls me up a flight of stairs, and I take a moment to appreciate them. Luxurious marble with a beautifully detailed railing. Upstairs, there's a long line of people, clearly all hammered, waiting to use to the bathroom. We pass by various closed doors, Luke's hand still holding mine, and he pulls me further down the hallway.
We reach a secluded area that is closed off by a velvet rope, guarded by a bouncer. Yes. A fucking bouncer. In a house party. I assume this is the VIP area that Andrew was telling me about. This is so extremely extra.
