CHAPTER 5

Bonding with Dad

Allison and her Dad had a wonderful afternoon eating and playing games. Allison enjoyed these moments with her Dad and appreciated him so much. As they sat and enjoyed a movie Allison finally built up the nerve to ask her father about the party.

"Dad, there's this party coming up. I would like to go with Amber, Samantha, and Michael if that's okay with you," Allison asked without looking his way. Mr. Sinclair was quiet for a while. He knew he was a bit strict and Allison was getting older. She would soon be leaving for college and he did not want to hold on too tight. Allison was a great daughter. She never gave him any problems. He was truly grateful for her character. However,  he sometimes felt she did not open up about everything that was happening at school. 

"I don't see anything wrong with you going. Just hold true to your values and the curfew is at 11:00 pm sharply," he indicated. Allison hugged her dad and thanked him for being so understanding. 

After she said good night her father held her hand. "Allison, please never hide anything from me. Even if it is the hard stuff, we still need to communicate about it. I am your father first and foremost. I love you. I never want you to fight any battles alone. Please lean on me. Your mother isn't here and I know there may be things you don't always want to talk to me about. But honey I will not judge you or be angry but supportive. You have to give me the chance," he confessed.

Allison embraced her father and shed a few tears. "Dad, you are so sweet and amazing. Thank you for thinking about me," she said. "Always," he said getting very emotional.

A Surprise Visit

Allison was startled by the knocking she heard at her window about an hour later. She hesitantly peeked outside and saw Benjamin standing behind a big tree in her front yard. "Okay, this boy is crazy," Allison concluded. "What if he wakes my Dad?" she thought. How would she be able to explain why a strange boy was knocking at her window? She opened her window and whispered, "What are you doing here?" "I need to see you," he said. "Shh...."Allison indicated before he woke her dad. "I'm coming," She whispered. 

Benjamin smiled at how cute she looked in her pajamas and robe. Her hair was pinned up with curly strands hanging from her face. "What?" she asked subconsciously worried that she looked like a mess. "You are breathtaking," Benjamin said. "Benjamin, did you wake me out of bed just to tell me this," she glared at him. He laughed filling the space between them. Allison step back feeling quite aware he was a bit too close.

"Speak before I leave," she said turning away. "I waited for your call and could not wait for it anymore," he said. "We go to the same school. You could have waited until you saw me in school," Allison explained.

"I know but things did not end well when you told me to leave you alone," he said. Allison felt bad about it. "Well, you saw what was going on. I did not need a knight and shining armor," she told him. "I am sorry if it came across that way. I apologize," Benjamin said searching her eyes.

"Apology accepted. Now you can leave," Allison said getting paranoid that her dad could wake up any second. "Why the rush?" Benjamin teased. "Benjamin," she scolded him. "Okay, I will leave if you promise to call me and see me after school tomorrow," he said. "Okay," Allison said simply trying to get him to leave.

When he left Allison slipped back into bed nervously. Benjamin Grey was too much. She would have died of a heart attack if her dad had caught her. Allison stored his number and said, "Goodnight. Please don't come again uninvited. It's giving stalker vibes. In record time he wrote, LOL, I can't wait until I see you again.
