In the 31st Century, Kang's army waited for their leader's return from the past. There was currently a panic. A disruption in the timeline unlike any of them has seen before. It would be only a few hours at most before the timeshifted from the altered past. All of a sudden, Kang appeared in his Time Chair alone, back at the peak of his power, and ready for his next attempt to conquer the 21st century. Despite Scarlet Witch's attempt to keep him in the present, he was able to travel through time despite the pain. He even managed to throw the two meddlesome hitchhikers off between the reaches of time and reality without any side effects... or at least, that's when he thought as he returned to his time.
He certainly didn't expect this much of a panic when he returned. Did something go wrong when traveling through time? Just then, one of his subordinates quickly ran up to him with a panicked look on his face, "What is going on? What happened while I was away?!"
"Sir, this been a massive shift in the space-time continuum," His goon answered, "Something happened in the 21st century that is altering the timeline."
"Impossible," Kang's eyes narrowed, "I was just there. I haven't done anything that would cause this big of an issue."
"It's true, Lord Kang," Another goon answered as he handed him the database, "See? Check it yourself."
Kang took it before quickly analyzing it and blinking in shock. They were telling the truth. He looked for any mistake or flaw in the calculations but found none. This shouldn't be possible. He took his counterparts' advice and returned to his timeline to prevent this from happening. He then looked back to his subordinates, "Did you find the source of the change?"
"That's the thing, sir," The first goon answered, "It happened the moment you returned to the chair and activate the coordinates to this time. Something with your chair malfunctioned and damaged the walls between the 21st century and the worlds outside of it."
Now, that really got Kang's attention, what could have happened that would damage the barriers between worlds as he traveled back to his home time. That's when it occurred to him, "The Witch! Wanda Maximoff's hex must have damaged the safety protocols when we traveled threw time and damaged the barriers!" Dang it, he shouldn't have risked traveling while the woman's powers struck his chair. It caused the very damage he was trying to prevent. Kang asked, "How bad is the damage?"
"Under normal circumstances, since the worlds are almost unaware of each other even in that era, would be an easy fix as they wouldn't understand what happened," The second goon answered, "but someone managed to take notice of this and has taken advantage of it along the Heartless to appear rough 10 years before they first appeared in that time."
If Kang's eyes could anymore wider, they fall right out of his skull, only one man in that era could possibly know about the shift of time and knowledge of the Heartless to do this much damage. Master Xehanort. Or very least a version of him. According to his research, Xehanort of that time had no memory of his past events aside from the path that had been etched in his heart. So, Xemnas or Ansem sound not have been around at that time, but one version, that could traverse forward through time to prepare his ultimate plan. And there was only one that could possibly stop him and he was only a child at that point in time He feared to ask this, "And what of Sora? What happened with Sora's time?"
They closed their eyes as if they knew Kang already knew the answer to that question. Kang groaned as he leaned back in his chair, "What have I done..." He closed his eyes as he prepared to ask, "How much time do we have to fix this?"
"Only a few hours at most," One goon answered.
Without wasting time, he checked the status of his Time Chair. When he got the results, they weren't good. When the Scarlet Witch's hex affected his chair as it traveled time, it had sustained heavy damage. He couldn't go back before he returned to his time to undo this. He could only go back to when it already happened. They could be fixed but it would take days and that was time they didn't have. In mere hours, time would shift to the new time. There would never be the 31st century. Nothing left to conquer because Xehanort had already won.
