WARNING: There is attempted murder and mentions of death in this chapter. Please proceed with caution.
(Just realized I didn't put a warning to the past chapters so I gotta be careful next time. My bad! >~<)
↳ A way to dispel the darkness ༉‧₊˚✧
1st POV
"Oh, why are we here at the library for?" Earlier, you were asked to get dressed to accompany him to somewhere but now that you have followed his instructions, your brows almost met in confusion.
"Do you need me to help you in carrying the books?" You queried, as you both walked along the aisle between shelves. "Geez, you should've brought Louis instead of me. He would be more efficient."
You crossed your arms in the process as you continued to scan around the area. However, you halted when your face suddenly bumped into his back when he stopped walking and faced you.
"You shouldn't belittle yourself, (Y/n)." Followed by patting your head, your blood rushed up to your face as it turned crimson as you looked away.
"I-I am not looking down on myself when I said that!" You defended. It's true, that in this society, women are treated weaker than men. However, it's not what you meant by saying Louis would do a better job at carrying the books.
"You got it wrong..." You faced the floor as your voice got weaker. "When we were young...Louis was sickly and his body is weak because of it. So, when he got cured, he's been running down and doing different chores and exercises up until now, making his physical strength a lot stronger than mine. Plus, he's more obedient and diligent...compared to me...who's..." Your expression dropped as silence lingered for a while. You couldn't even continue what you were about to say.
"Hm?"
You cleared your throat as you tried to brighten up your mood and plastered a quick small smile. "Nevermind! Let's just get the books you wanted." Suddenly changing your attitude, you sped up your pace as you continued to walk past William and into the shelves. You certainly don't want to change this short trip to the library into a dramatic scene so you just had to stop yourself or else, your past would consume you whole once more.
"(Y/n)," At the call of your name, it was now your turn to face him since he was now behind you. He stood still at the same place before he slowly walked to your direction. "Just take it easy, don't let it burden you. Know that your presence is enough for me."
You were about to raise a brow in confusion when he passed by you. His words may seem vague and unclear but it made you feel a little bit better. Really, you weren't trying to look down on yourself...or maybe just a little.
"Haha, are those lines you'd say to pick up ladies?" You tried catching up to him and cracking a joke to ease the atmosphere that you've created.
"You must be joking, Lady (Y/n). I'm serious about what I said." With a slight grin on both of your faces you ran off chuckling to a different direction when a book caught your attention.
"How could I possibly entertain other ladies if you're here? I told you so. Just having you by my side is more than enough." With the distance between the two of you, you were too far to even hear the words that he said. And when you got home, you still don't know why you went to the library.

It wasn't a surprise when you find yourself sitting in one of the chairs inside a conservatory and is currently participating in Mr. Brighton's tea party.
