THE GUYS SPENT A LOT OF TIME over the next few days dodging out of sight whenever they saw Gilderoy Lockhart coming down a corridor. Harder to avoid was Geri Creevey, who seemed to have memorized their schedule; even Arlo and Rio could barely find them within hours. Nothing seemed to give Geri a bigger thrill than to say, "All right, all of you?" six or seven times a day and hear, "Hello, Geri" back, however exasperated they sounded when either of them said it.
Turns out, Otis was still angry with Arlo and Jake about the disastrous car journey and Sunghoon's wand was still malfunctioning, surpassing itself on Friday morning by shooting out of Sunghoon's hand in Charms and hitting tiny old Professor Flitwick squarely between the eyes, creating a large, throbbing green boil where it had struck. So with one thing and another, they were quite glad to reach the weekend; so was Arlo and Rio, since they wouldn't have to go head hunting for the guys for awhile.
While the guys disappeared in hours for the whole week, Arlo and Rio found more moments for each other. Arlo was even thrilled to tell that while they were out on those hours to walk around the fields, they caught sight of Byounggon, Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, losing control of the Quaffle, Bludgers, and struggling to keep the Snitch in his grasp—Rio offered to help.
In less than ten minutes, they succeeded in placing back the Quidditch Supplies. Byounggon offered Rio the spot of the Swiper—which she originally declined kindly—but Byounggon didn't take 'No' for an answer; saying just until someone trials up for the Swiper; explaining that Professor McGonagall will suspend Gryffindor's games if they still haven't found a Swiper since the last four years.
Arlo liked to joke about: 'If ever that Rio and Seungmin would have to go against one another as they're both their Houses Swipers now' though Rio didn't want to tell anyone—but Arlo did.The friends were planning to visit Hagrid on Saturday morning. Taehyun and Beomgyu, however, were shaken awake several hours earlier than they would have liked by Byounggon, Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
"Whassamatter?" said Beomgyu groggily.
"Quidditch practice!" said Byounggon. "Come on!"
Taehyun squinted at the window. "What the—Byounggon," he croaked, "It's the crack of dawn."
There was a thin mist hanging across the pink-and-gold sky. Now that Beomgyu was awake, he couldn't understand how he could have slept through the sound the birds were making; Daniel and Jisung were woken up groggily by the noise.
"Exactly," said Byounggon. He was a tall and burly sixth year and, at the moment, his eyes were gleaming with a crazed enthusiasm. "It's part of our new training program. Come on, grab your broom, and let's go," He said heartily. "None of the other teams have started training yet; we're going to be first off the mark this year—"
Yawning and shivering slightly, Taehyun and Beomgyu climbed out of bed and tried to find their Quidditch robes. Jisung and Daniel couldn't sleep anymore and were sitting slumped in bed.
"Mornin' Daniel and Jisung!" Byounggon greeted.
Daniel and Jisung's eyes could barely be seen, still drooping, but they waved in reply.
They watched Chan pass by the wide open door, groaning and muttering curses on wanting to go back to sleep as he dragged his feet and himself away from sight.
"Good men!" said Byounggon. "Meet you on the field in fifteen minutes."
When Beomgyu found his scarlet team robes and pulled on his cloak for warmth while Taehyun scribbled a note to their friends explaining where they'd gone, confident that Daniel and Jisung are still too sleepy to remember. The two went down the spiral staircase to the common room, their Nimbus Two Thousand and CleanSweep on their shoulder.
