The people of the resort were on the verge of panic, uncertainty  filled the air like thick smoke, it was hard not to choke. The Beach itself shuddered, you couldn't believe the Hatter was dead. The guy was crazy, but he built all of this, he gave people a reason to live again. The system was flawed, but at least there was order amongst the chaos. The leader of the Beach had fallen, would his people fall with him?

You needed to find your friends, they would know what to do.

After frantically searching everywhere for over a half hour, you finally run into Kuina on your room level. She was pacing back on forth in the hallway frantically, she must know something. Grabbing her shoulders you shake her vigerously, "Kuina thank god I finally found you! Have you heard? The Hatter died in the last game, I just saw Niragi dragging his body into the lobby. The bastard sure as hell didn't look too upset."

A pained expression crossed her delicate features and she nodded, "I know, Chishiya told me. There is no way in hell that was an accident either. Something happened in that game, and we are going to find out what. The militants will utilise this advantage to take control if we aren't careful."

You grimace at the thought then look around, "What are we going to do? And where are the others?"

"Arisu and the others are waiting in their rooms, I told them to stay hidden in case Niragi comes after them, you should be doing the same." She huffs in worry, nodding her head towards the elevator, "Chishiya just left and is on his way to the Executive meeting where they are deciding who the new number 1 will be, I'm worried sick. I just wish I could hear what was going on."

Your eyes lit up with a brilliant idea and you throw a conniving grin towards Kuina, "We will be listening to their little meeting, they just aren't going to know we are there." She raises her eyebrow in confusion, looking at you as if you were insane. Before she could argue, you grab her arm and drag her towards the stairs, but instead of stopping on the top floor where the office was, you keep going up until you reach the roof. The last time you were up there with Chishiya you remember spotting a glass skylight, and if your idea of the building structure was correct, it should give you a clear view into the office where they were currently holding the meeting. Your mind wanders to the view of him leaning over the balcony, through all that arrogance and through those walls he had built up high, you knew he was a good person deep down. Throwing open the door, you are met with the cool air of the afternoon. You scan the area, lingering on the railing where you and Chishiya had spoken that one time after the game, then spot the reflection of glass on your far right. Pulling confused Kuina alongside you once again, you kneel down and peer through the skylight and into the room below. Following your movements, Kuina does the same and looks up in suprise. We were above the Office and standing below us, were none other than the Executives. Chishiya was standing at the far end with a standard smug look on his face, arms crossed and leaning to the side. Ann was sporting a similar look whilst the others were talking quietly, shifting on their feet in anticipation. You could see them, but still couldn't hear a thing. Furrowing your brows you feel along the edges of the skylight, finding a small latch which you quietly flicked. The skylight opened, making a creaking sound. You and Kuina jump backwards, ensuring you were out of sight if anyone looked upwards. Moments later, voices drifted through the gap and we peered back over to continue watching. You were now officially a professional spy, where was our theme song meant to start playing? The doors to the office flew open. You and Kuina watch from above as the Hatters body was dragged into the room and slammed onto a table carelessly. A large, scary looking man walked into the room, the expression on his face screaming the words 'do not mess with me'. You remembered seeing him a few times, his name was Aguni, the Hatters right hand man and leader of the militants. Glancing back towards Chishiya, his face was still expressionless, truely the master of deception and hiding thoughts. That is when the chaos ensued, the argument for who was to be the new leader begun. Despite the obvious choice of number 2 to take on the position, Aguni advocated himself. There were mixed reactions that erupted from the group which included anger, disbelief and disregard. The militants, including Niragi, raised their weapons and shouted words of intimidation. This was no democracy.

"Put your hand up if you vote for Aguni to be the new number 1." Niragi shouted, smiling like a mad man and waving his gun around in the air as he did so. The militants all raised their hands along one or two others, but the rest of the executives stood their ground. After more screaming about how the Hatter was dead alongside his ideals, with the end of his gun the lifeless body was beaten brutally with the ends of the militants weapons until his face was unrecognisable. You and Kuina look away in horror, unable to watch as the body was mutilated. Some hands flew up at the brutal display, however a few stayed down, including Ann's and Chishiya's. Niragi went around the room and one by one, intimitated the Executives into raising their arms through threats and pointing his gun in their faces. His wild eyes then turned to face Chishiya who still had his hands in his pockets, your heart skipped a beat. All you can do is helplessly watch as Niragi stalked towards the too calm Chishiya, you hoped to god his arrogance wouldn't get him killed. Niragi lifted the gun and aimed it under Chishiya's chin, where not only did he not flinch, but he smiled. Who the hell smiles when a gun is being pointed at you? It was kind of hot. Kuina gasps and grabs your arm, eyes filled with panick for her friend. Your heart also begins racing, what was he doing? He finally raises his arms in surrender, his point made that no one could truely control him and that he wasn't afraid of death. With a smug look smearing his gorgeous face, Niragi turns away from him and continues going around to threaten the other executives.

So it was decided, Aguni was the new number 1, and the militants were now in charge.

After the meeting was concluded and numbered wristbands were swapped around, you rush down to the foyer to gather the others. Your friends were all waiting in the halls when you ran in, Chishiya arriving moments later. He glances up at you, shuddering as his eyes wandered over your body, it taking everything in you not the glance at that damn elevator. He then opens the door to his room and ushers everyone inside, we stood and sat sprawled around the space.

"They have taken control, we need to act now." He grunts, a flash of worry crosses everyones features.

"I assume you have a plan?" Kuina questions him, "So what is it?"

Chishiya smirks, "We are going to steal the cards from right under their noses."

Your eyes widen, "Steal the cards? What the hell are we going to do when they find out? They'll kill us."

He shrugs, "They are going to kill us anyway if we don't get out of here. And as soon as we get them we are escaping."

The group nods in agreement, Usagi shifting uncomfortably, she obviously didn't totally trust Chishiya. Arisu speaks to her using his eyes, causing her body language to soften. She may not trust Chishiya but she did trust him. They join the others in their agreements and we all settle in to hear the plan. They were planning to present the new leader to the Beach residents later today. Before then, Chishiya was going to figure out the code combination, then Arisu and Usagi were going to sneak upstairs to open the safe whilst everyone was distracted. You, Tatta and Kuina were to be on lookout, however you wanted to help more. After the meeting you would be sure to say something to Chishiya, hopefully it wouldn't be too awkward.

Arisu stuttered out in concern, "This sounds pretty dangerous, are you sure there's nothing else we can do?"

Chishiya smiles at you all, eyes narrowing and locking in on you, "Trust me, this is the only way."

And you did trust him, but you were a fool to ever trust the Cheshire Cat.
