Sebastian POV
"What? No! Are you insane?" y/n said, looking at me as if I had just asked her to use an Unforgivable curse on me. "You know what it does."
"Only if you try to lie. You were right, I wasn't being completely honest with you. But it doesn't matter what I say now, Ominis is never going to believe me anyway." I explained.
There was a moment of silence before Ominis spoke up, "Say it without the potion and let me decide whether to trust you or not."
My mouth suddenly felt dry, like I hadn't taken a drink in a week. I cleared my throat and loosened my tie before I was able to speak again. "The truth is, I knew about you two," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "and I got jealous and scared."
"What are you talking about? There was nothing going on between Ominis and me until that incident with Amortentia yesterday." said y/n
I chuckled. "Y/n, it's been painfully obvious to everyone that you two like each other." Both of them looked embarrassed and even in that tense moment I couldn't help but find it amusing that they both had such a ridiculous blind spot.
Y/n continued, "So, you got scared that we liked each other? That doesn't really make much sense."
"No," I exhaled, alright here it goes "I got scared because I thought if you got together, there wouldn't be a place for me and also you wouldn't care enough to help me with the cure for Anne."
Y/n gasped and Ominis rose from the bed. I was ready for any reaction from him, I thought he might even punch me this time.
Y/n's voice trembled as she spoke, "So let me get this straight, everything you told us, everything you did, was just to manipulate us to make sure we would help you find a cure even though we had already said we wanted to help you anyway."
"I didn't pretend anything!" I replied and stood up, my voice firm. "I admit that at the beginning it was my plan but I never followed through with it and when I said I care about you, that was all true. Please, just give me that bloody potion. I'll repeat it a thousand times if it makes you believe me. Ominis, for the love of Merlin, jinx me or punch me, but please say something!"
Ominis' gaze was fixed somewhere to the right of my ear. Although he was someone who typically wore his heart on his sleeve, his face remained oddly expressionless and his voice was calm when he spoke again. "I believe you."
He believed me? "What?" I asked, surprised.
"Yes," he said. "Finally it all makes sense but let me make something clear. Regardless of what our relationship may become in the future; friends, lovers or enemies, I will always want to help cure Anne. Not because of you, but because of her. I know how much she means to you, and I don't even want to imagine what you're willing to do for her. If anyone can save her, it's going to be you and I swear that you can count on my help."
y/n didn't hesitate to chime in. "And mine too, Sebastian. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear from the beginning."
My legs felt weak, and I had to sit back down on the bed, my hands were shaking. I didn't know what to say. Ominis sat at the opposite side of the bed leaning on the frame and y/n collapsed on the sofa. After a few minutes she was the first one to break the silence, "Your sister is your priority, we wouldn't expect anything else, Seb." she said. I lifted my head to look at her and her large eyes were filled with sadness. I hated to be the cause of that. At that moment I wanted nothing more than to pull her into a comforting hug right then and there but she wasn't finished yet. "Now on my part, I also care about you, as a friend and more, and nothing that was said today has changed my feelings." She and I looked at Ominis and as if he could see our gaze, he continued, "I feel the same way."
What in Merlin's name was happening right now?
That took my breath away, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "You're joking," I blurted out, my eyes darting between Ominis and y/n. "After everything I've just admitted, you're both just okay with it?"
Ominis chuckled "Sebastian, how long have we known each other? Seven years? Nothing that you said today was a big surprise. Seriously, you're becoming awfully predictable, my friend. I'd just appreciate more honesty in the future."
"So..." y/n said with a hint of a smile, "About what you said before all this - that maybe, just maybe, we could find a way to make this work, the three of us?..."
I couldn't believe it. This wasn't a dream. We were now sitting on the bed, forming a triangle and discussing how to make the three of us work in a relationship. I had never been in a three-way relationship or any other relationship before, to be honest. My life had been consumed with making the world burn, destroying what was left of my family, and later taking care of Anne. The only one with any experience in this kind of dynamic was y/n.
"Well, I'm definitely not an expert," she said, gazing up at the ceiling. "But from what I remember, the problem was never when we were all together. It was always after we spent some time apart... specifically, Imelda didn't like it when I spent time alone with Garreth." She paused and Ominis muttered something that sounded like, "Yeah, poor Garreth." She continued, "So, we should probably try spending time all together, then separately, and in different combinations, and then share our feelings about it afterward... stop grinning, Sebastian, I'm being serious." She playfully slapped my leg, I didn't even know I was grinning.
"Sorry," I said, "I was just wondering about the combinations."
'We can sort out the details later, but for now, let's focus on being together." she said, scanning the room for ideas. When neither of us responded, she took the initiative and continued. "Now we don't have enough time, I don't think we can afford to skip classes," she checked her pocket watch, "but we can all spend the night here together, this bed is big enough." she said casually and my jaw dropped.
"You mean..." Ominis started, "as if we all..."
"Only if you want to, I certainly wouldn't mind." y/n said with the most devilish smile I've ever seen on her face.
"Yes, sure." replied Ominis with a very calm voice but his reddening ears betrayed him.
"It will be an interesting night." I said at the end, feeling a sense of pride that my voice sounded much more relaxed than I thought it would.
