double date

long-ish chapter 🥨

huening kai rushed home after school taking the letter out of his bag and jumping on his bed. he was about to start reading when his phone started ringing.

he groaned and picked up the phone "hello?"

"hueningie!" a joyful voice was heard. huening kai's face immediately lit up, "taehyunie hyung!"

"heyy cutie pie, just wanted to ask if you wanna hang out with yeonjun hyung, soobin hyung and me." he said, "a double date" another voice came.

then some bickering was heard.

"it's not a double date! we aren't dating!" taehyun whined

"i didnt say us" yeonjun replied with a giggle.

huening kai giggled along with them. "sure i'll hang out with you guys, i have nothing to do anyway"

"oh goodie! we can hang out and have drinks~" yeonjun sang on the other line

"you already sound drunk" taehyun scoffed "and no, no drinks. you've had enough with yoongi sunbaenim. we'll be there in 10 minutes kai" taehyun said.

"alright~" they hung up and he jumped off the bed to get ready, completely forgetting about the letter.

"ughh yeonjun hyung~ we've been here for forever, im hungry" huening kai bounces around whining.

"last one minute!" he says, "which one looks better," he takes two pieces of clothing off the rack. "this pants or this skirt. quick, pick." yeonjun said and huening kai groaned, but before he could reply, a voice came.

"i think both hyung, i could sew the skirt and pants together and make it look cute if you want?" taehyun said with a smile. yeonjun's heart fluttered at that and so did kai's just watching the two.

"alright lovebirds, im starving" another voice came from behind breaking the silence. soobin looked over and saw taehyun and yeonjun looking at each other with heart eyes.

he stiffened, "uh- ahem.." he coughed catching their attention, "nevermind, you guys do your thing. kai, wanna go grab a quick bite?" his voice broke.

kai knew something was up, he looked towards taehyun and yeonjun who were still in their own little world, just a bit cautious of their friends but still in a trance. "sure," he said and smiled at his elders, "you guys catch up, we'll be out on our date" huening kai joked and didn't wait for a response before dragging soobin out of the store.

his heart broke into a million pieces just watching the two. he felt envy towards yeonjun, he had been close friends with taehyun longer than yeonjun has but the younger ended up liking him.

why was the world so cruel?

with a heavy heart, he followed kai out of the store and finally let out the breathe he didn't even know he was holding.

kai looked at him and sighed, he didn't say anything but hug the older.

"there are plenty of fish in the sea hyung" huening kai said.

"yeah, well. there are other fishermen too" he scoffed and hugged the younger back. "but today is no time to be sad. today is a date" he pulled away and smiled at huening kai.
