Please don't call on me.
Please don't call on me."Ms. Parker, how about you answer the question?" Mr Devins, my science teacher, asks. He crosses his arms and waits for me to answer.
"Uhm, C-can you ask the q-question again?" I mumble. Mr Devins rolls his eyes, and points at the white board. I glance at the board, it had only one thing on the board. The warm up question. The question I was supposed to answer.
What biome is the most diverse?
"Uhm, Rainforest." I answer. Mr Devins clears his throat.
"Ms Parker, The full answer." He says, his voice has a tint of annoyance. Honestly mine would to if I were my teacher.
"Tropical Rainforest." I correct myself. There is a long pause. He nods his head and continues class. I turn to my left, and casually stare at Zachary. As casually as one could stare at someone. Zachary turns his head to face me, and I can feel the butterflies wake up.
"Hey," he mouths. "good job." I grin.
"Thanks." I mouth back.
Slam.
"Ms Parker, do I need to move your seat?" Mr Devins asks as slamming his textbook on his desk. My grin fades and I shake my head.
Jerk.
Mr Devins scowls at me, then continues with class. I turn back towards Zachary, who is now talking to Veronica. She giggles and playfully hits Zachary on the arm. I slouch in my seat and put my head on my desk.
Could this day get any worse? Ugh. Finally, the bell.
All the students stand up at once, as in a trance and race out the door. I try to stay away from Zachary walking out, just to prevent any emotional damage on my part. It doesn't work.
"Hey, Alex! Wait up!" He half shouts. I speed up, trying my best not to bump into anyone. I feel him tap me on the shoulder, so I stop and turn to face him.
"What?" I ask. I put my free hand on my hip, and put on my best poker face. A look of concern appears on his face. He narrows his eyebrows and stares at me.
"Spill the beans." He says.
"Actually I rather keep the beans in the can, thank you very much." I respond. I turn to keep walking but he grabs my shoulders and turns me back around.
"What's wrong?" He asks. "Your not acting the same. What's going on? He keeps pushing.
"Oh my god just go away Zachary! Can't you tell I want to be alone?" I snap. Zachary lets go of my shoulders.
"Sorry, I just, I wanted to talk to you."
"Okay. Then talk." I move a stray hair out of my face and stare right at Zachary. The butterflies come back, but I try to push them out.
"Do uh, you want to uh, see a movie some time? With me?" He asks. I feel my face go red, and my stomach crumbles. I try to speak but nothing comes out.
"I-I would, uhm, yah totally." I managed to get those few words out. Zachary has a huge smirk plastered on his face, he nods his head and turns around. He walks away with a hop in his step. I feel the red leave from my face replaced with a smile.
