Turns out the unsub was just a really lonely creepy old man with a type. It was a simple case even though it took us a week. I'm sitting in my chair just spinning around waiting for Penny to bring me my paperwork. "Hey, Y/N?" I look up to see Spencer, who's leaning on my desk. "Oh, hey Spence. What's up?" I ask sitting up in my chair. "I was wondering if you needed any help with the paperwork." He asks shyly, rubbing the back of his neck. "God you're a lifesaver! Please! I have no idea what I'm doing and I haven't even gotten the paperwork yet!" I squeal. I see him smile slightly before going back to his normal awkward face. "Alrighty love, here's your paperwork." Penny says, handing me a stack of papers.
My eyes widen. "God, that's a lot of paper work. Also, I'm going to Spence's apartment for a little while, I need help with paperwork, so I'll be home later." I smile. "Oh well okay then. Just don't forget to feed her Spencer, she gets angry if she doesn't eat." Penelope laughs. "I'll keep that in mind Garcia, thanks." Spencer smiles awkwardly. I grab the rest of my stuff, and walk to the elevator with Spencer. "So, you're sure you're okay with coming to my apartment?"
I look at Spencer while he finishes the rest of his sentence. "Yes Spencer, It's fine. I really need the help. And I sure as hell need the space away from Penelope for a little." I giggle. It seems to lighten his mood a bit. We get to the parking garage and I remember Penny driving me here, "Uhhh, heyyy. Spencer.." I pause waiting for a response. "Hm?" He hums while walking to his car. "Do you mind if I ride with you.. My sister drove me here." I say embarrassed. "Hm? Oh yeah, that's alright." He hums once more. I smile at his sweetness. 'Well that was easy. He's so sweet though, so I'm not surprised.' I climb in the passenger seat and buckle in.
Spencer gets in the driver seat and turns on the car. I stare out the window for a while, but I notice his leg bouncing. "Hey.. Spencer. Are you okay?" I ask, worried. "Hm? Oh, yeah I'm alright." He says with a monotone voice. "Spencer. I see your leg bouncing. What's wrong?" I press. "I just have anxiety Y/N, everything's okay." His words spill out of his mouth like his last words before he dies. But, I decide not to press much further so I don't make him uncomfortable or upset him.
The car ride is quiet for the rest of the time until we pull into his driveway. I climb out of the car, walking behind him to his apartment door. We walk in and I slip my shoes off. "Ah shit." I laugh under my breath, staring at my sparkly socks. "What happened?" Spencer asks from the hallway. "Nothing Spencer everything's okay." I giggle, making my way to the couch.
Spencer sits down in the empty spot next to me while I'm doing paperwork. I notice that he's staring at my socks. "Is that what you cussed about?" He looks at me like I'm a little kid, "Yeah, I have a lot of these, but I also didn't expect to go to someones house tonight." I smile awkwardly. "Oh, it's alright" He pauses pulling up one of his pant legs. "I wear goofy socks too" He smiles triumphantly. I look at the shin high sock realizing there's a bunch of little turkeys on it. "Oh my god, those are amazing!" I snort, holding my stomach. We both share a laugh for a little but get back to the paperwork.
"Okay so, you do everything you can, skip questions you don't understand and then i'll help you." He says chewing on the end of his pen. I nod my head in agreement. While trying to do the questions I understand, I furrow my brows leaning against the couch. "Shit." I sigh, waiting for Spencer to get done. "Alright, I'm done. Anything you need help with?" He turns to look at me. "Uh yeah, just a few questions." I say with a heavy breath of air. Spencer nods. "Okay so basically these two are the same as 13 and 16, just worded differently. And these three are the same as 9, 3, and 19." He sighs, chewing on the end of his pen.
I finish up the rest of my paperwork and yawn. "Oh shit." I groan looking at the clock. "Hm?" Spencer hums. "It's 12 pm." I throw my head against the arm of the couch. "Uhhh..." Spencer pauses. We look at each other trying to figure out what to do. "Is it okay if I call Penny, and I just stay the night. I have my go bag. I'll sleep on the couch." I sigh, pulling out my phone. He nods in agreement, he gets up walking to the hallway closet pulling out some blankets, and I dial Penny's number. "Oh my god Y/N! Honey, I thought you were dead!" She squeaks worriedly. "No Penny, I'm alright. I just finished my paperwork. I'm gonna stay at Spencer's and crash on his couch." I yawn. "Oh, well alright sugar. Sleep well." She sings. "And no monkey business missy. But if it happens, you have protection in your go-bag." she continues. "Oh god! Penelope Garcia!" I cry, "Always gotta be safe!" She sings once more. "Ugh, alright Sleep well, love you." I hang up the phone. Spencer walks towards me with a stack of blankets and a pillow.
"Thank you so much for letting me crash here for tonight." I smile, grabbing the stack. "It's no problem, plus I don't want to drive in the dark." He smiles awkwardly. "Oh, I also figure you need something to sleep in. There's two outfits on the bathroom sink. You can decide between the two." He smiles. It's very sweet and warm. "Thanks Spencer." I say, walking to the bathroom. "Also, what were you yelling at Garcia for?" He asks through the bathroom door. "Nothing! Just sister stuff." I yell, struggling to get the clothes on.
I walk out of the bathroom, making my way to his kitchen to get some water. I turn the corner to see him in the fridge. "Oh shit!" I yell, practically touching the ceiling. "You alright?" he raises an eyebrow, closing the fridge door, holding a thing of yogurt in his hand. "Yeah, I just didn't expect to see you right there." I laugh nervously. He takes a bite of his yogurt before speaking again. "Well you should probably get some rest. We have no idea if there's gonna be a case." He groans, lifting another spoonful of yogurt to his mouth. I laugh at him eating the yogurt. "What's so funny?" He raises his eyebrow being his oblivious self, putting the spoon in the sink. "You uh.." I pause to laugh. "You have some yogurt on your face." I lean against the fridge. "Where?" frantically trying to find where the yogurt is. I just laugh while walking towards him. "Here." I say sweetly while wiping the yogurt off his chin. I didn't realize how much taller he is than me until I finish wiping the yogurt off his face. I look up at him, our eyes meet. I stare at him for what feels like hours. His honey eyes glowing from the light. 'Do it. Kiss him. You know you want to'
My eyes flicker from his mouth to his eyes. After a couple seconds I build the courage to get on the tops of my toes and kiss him. I melt, I can tell he seems uncomfortable so I start to pull away. When I unlock our lips I feel his hands snake around my lower back as he pulls me back in for another kiss. This time it's full of something I've never felt before. Something I've been denying for weeks, but something tells me he feels the same way.
We pull away to break the kiss and he just stares at me. I can feel my face heat up. "Oh god, Spencer I'm so sorry. I didn't-" He cuts me off. "Uh- I uh, we should probably go to bed.." His words are jumbled and frantic. I slightly frown at his reaction. "Yeah.. we probably should.." I sigh. "Well.. Goodnight.." He says walking to his bedroom.
I I walk over to the couch, curling into a ball. I feel my eyes brim with tears. 'How could be so stupid! God..'
