Alice and Marcus felt truly blessed in the following years to come. On 28th June 1527, they welcomed Lady Mackenzie Jones into the world. Much to their relief, she was a happy and healthy baby. After having her, they promptly moved into their new home. Henry, Charles and Mackenzie visited frequently, and were the first to know when Alice fell pregnant again.
9th December 1530, Lord Henry Jones made his appearance. Once again, they were blessed with another happy and healthy baby. And just when Alice thought maybe they were done, she was pregnant again. On 14th March 1533, Charles Jones was welcomed.
Now, in the present day, they really had their hands full.
Alice and Marcus were currently at court for their Christmas Ball, watching as Henry's newest wife, Queen Katherine Howard, was dancing with their three children plus Henry's other daughter Elizabeth. Many in court thought it was strange that Alice and Marcus chose to raise their children themselves without a nanny, but neither of them would have it any other way.
And of course, Henry's protection for Alice still stood. No one dared to breath an ill word about the couple and their children, knowing what that meant for their fate.
"They seem to get along well," Henry mused. Him and Alice were off to the side, getting some sibling time in while they could. Lately, Henry has been too busy to visit, so she made as many trips possible up to court. Of course, he never got rid of their rooms.
"They do," she smiled as she continued to watch. "Katherine seems very sweet. I hope it works out."
"Me too," he sighed. Alice looked up at him with a sad smile, knowing how tired and exhausted her brother truly was. Especially after loosing Jane Seymour, who he dubbed as his favorite.
"Well, just know I always have your back," she responded as Marcus made their way towards them with a sleeping Charles in his arms.
"Charles should probably head to bed," he joked, making the siblings chuckle.
"It appears he finally hit a sugar crash."
"Well if someone didn't stuff their faces with chocolate," Alice gave the men pointed looks. They chuckled and shrugged.
"It's Christmas, they need to let loose."
"How I miss being this young. It feels just like yesterday you were dragging me out of the wood house for your coronation," she chuckled at the memory.
"You guys were absolutely soaked," Marcus laughed along, also remembering that day perfectly well.
"What can I say, I'd do anything for my little sister," Henry wrapped an arm around Alice and stroked her arm lovingly, making her lean into him for a moment. Noticing her other kids were getting tired, she sighed and pulled away.
"We should probably put them all to sleep. We'll come back," Alice gave Henry a quick kiss on the cheek. Her and Marcus then gathered up the rest of them and made it over to their old chambers. After many tantrums from the boys not wanting to share a bed and two bed time stories later, the three kids were finally asleep.
Alice and Marcus sighed in relief and made their way over to their room. She found herself becoming very tired herself.
"Do you want me to send word that we're going to rest and that we'll them at breakfast?" Marcus offered softly, rubbing her back in support. With a nod, he sent a guard at once to do so and then helped her get ready for bed.
He looked over at his wife, admiring her beauty that seemed never go away. He felt that every time he looked at her, falling even more in love with her than possible. Alice looked back at him and smiled, and it was as if they were having a silent conversation. No one spoke, but they knew what was being said.
I love you.
Marcus and Alice were lucky. In this time, it wasn't common that people got to marry for love. But they overcame everything and fought against all odds, and neither of them wouldn't change a thing about them or their relationship. They also both swore that they would never make their kids marry someone they didn't want to, hoping they would know the love that their parents have for each other.
