I sit in the small school bleachers, watching my crush, Benny Rodriguez. I've liked him since 2nd grade. He's the fastest kid in his grade, and he's soo hot! He hits the ball and runs to second base but gets stuck in a pickle between second in third.

"PICKLE!!" A kid from Benny's team yells as everyone runs to the fence. "Come on, Benny!!" I yell, he doesn't even notice us. He's so focused on winning the game, which he does.

We all cheer and scream for him as he runs to celebrate with his team. Before he leaves, I stop him. "Hey, great playing out there!" I say, holding out my hand. He shakes it.

"You're Wendy Peffercorns sister, uhh, Yn. Right?" He asks. I nod, that's all anyone knows me for. "Well, nice meeting you, maybe I'll see you this summer." He says as he leaves. Oh. My. Gosh.

My crush I've had since 2nd grade says maybe he'll see me this summer.

"Wendy!! You will not believe what Benny said to me!!" I yell as I walk into my house. Wendy comes downstairs from her room and smiles at me. "What about that Phillps boy? You already over him?" She says in a snarky tone.

I groan as I remember my "boyfriend" Phillips. I hate him, but he told me to go out with him or he'd tell everyone about what happened last summer. "Don't even remind me about him!" I say flopping onto the couch.

"Alright, well, tell me what your little lover boy did today." She says, sitting down next to me. I tell her the story as she giggles with me. "Yep, this Benny kid definitely likes you!" She yells, making kissy noises.

"Well, I'd love to talk more about this Benny kid, but I have to go, I'm on lifeguard duty tonight!" She says as she gets her sunglasses and her purse. "Can I go with? I have nothing better to do." She nods as I grab my swimsuit.

𝐴𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑜𝑜𝑙

I get dressed in my bathing suit, and no time. I see Benny and his friends all in the pool. I prepare myself for this moment as I walk out of the changing room.

"Wow.." One of them say. "Is that Wendy Peffercorns sister!?" Another says. "Yeah, and she's hot." BENNY says. Benny, THE Benny thinks I'm hot. I take my sunglasses off and wink at him. He smirks at me.

I sit on the side of the pool, just a few feet from where the guys were swimming. Benny comes over to me. "Hey Yn, told you I'd see you again." He says I smiles at him and nod. "I didn't know you'd guys would be here. I just came with my sister, she's on lifeguard duty." I say, pointing at her, she waves to me.

"Well, you gonna swim?" He asks, I shake my head. "Aw, come on, you scared of a little water?" He asks, I laugh a bit. "No, it's just I don't want to ruin my hair." He scoffs. "Too bad!" He yells.

Just before I even have time to think about what he says, he grabs me by the waist and pulls me into the pool. "Benny!! Jesus, it's freezing!" I yell as I hit him a bit. He just laughs.

"It ain't that bad Yn, just relax, drama queen." He says, I giggle a bit, pushing my hair out of my face. Me and the guys were all having fun until Phillips shows up to the pool. "Damn it." Benny says as all of them get out of the pool, including me.

"Yn, you hang out with these dorks?" Phillps asks me, I sigh. "Don't start stuff, please, Phillips." I say, he shakes his head. Benny stands in front of all of us. "You got a problem, Rodriguez?" Phillips asks, Benny scoffs.

"Not really, since you know me and the guys could kick your teams ass on the field. Is that why you won't ever play us?" Benny asks, all of his friends back him up.

"No, the only reason I don't play you guys is because you guys shouldn't even be able to touch a baseball!" Phillps yells in response. I scoff as I separated them. "I'll see you another time Benny, sorry about him." I say as I grab Phillps arm and walk away.

"What, you got a little crush on Rodriguez?" Phillps asks me. I scoff. "Stop being such a baby and go home!" I say, he gets on his bike and does as I tell him to.
