I sigh as I glance down at the classroom orientation paper in my hand and push my bangs back from my face. It's the first day of high school, and I'm already confused. This school is just so big, and there are so many hallways... and it's very crowded, it makes me uncomfortable...
The school bell chimes to signal the beginning of first period. Everyone bustles to their classes and I am left alone in the hallway. I sigh with relief. This will make it easier to find my classes, at least.
"Oh-" I gasp as I bump my face into something soft.. and warm.
"Ah, are you alright?" a melodic voice asks.
I look up to see a tall guy with blonde hair tied back into a small ponytail. His hair is messy as if he didn't give much thought to it, and his bangs aren't the tidiest either. He's wearing a blue sweater with a white button-up underneath. His entire appearance should look disorganized, but he somehow manages to pull it off. His eyes are an azure blue color, so blue it feels like you could drown in them. I startle, snapping out of my thoughts.
"O-oh, yeah, I-I'm alright..."
He must be one of the teachers, I think, glancing down at his name tag.
"Are you lost? Everyone's already in their classes," he says, smiling kindly.
"Ah, yeah, I'm a bit lost..."
"Hmm. Who is your first-period teacher?" he asks.
"Mr.. Albedo, Painting 101."
He chuckles softly. "That would be me."
"O-oh! I'm so sorry!"
"It's alright. You can come with me, I'll show you the way to the classroom." He answers, pushing up his glasses.
"Thank you! I-it's nice to meet you, Mr. Albedo, I have you for 2 classes!" I stutter.
"Wow, 2 classes? you must really love art," he says, tilting his head ever so slightly in an enamoring way.
"Ahaha, yeah, I want to become an artist someday.." I mutter, blushing.
"Well, I do hope that my art classes can help you with that. Anyway, we should get going now, we're already late. It's not very appropriate for a teacher to be late on the first day."
"Ohhhh, I'm so sorry for keeping you so long with my rambling.." I mumble, trailing off.
"It's alright," he replies. "It was nice getting to know one of my students. What is your name?"
"Y-y/n."
He pauses for half a second and then says, "Hmm, what a beautiful name."
"Thank you.." I flush.
"Now, we should get going. Follow me this way."
As soon as I set foot in the classroom, the smell of paint hits me. I take a deep breath of it, and then quickly rush to the closest seat with my head down to avoid any attention. The seat is on the right side of the classroom, opposite Mr. Albedo's desk. I have a nice view out the window to the schoolyard below.
"Good morning, class. My name is Mr. Albedo, and I'll be teaching Painting 101. I won't waste time with introductions, we can just get started on what this class is going to entail."
I breathe a little sigh of relief. I hate it when teachers tell us to introduce ourselves. I never really know what to say.

"So, that's what we're going to learn this year summed up. Any questions?"
He glances around.
"Let's get started, then."
He looks at a kid at the front.
"Noelle, right? Could you pass out the paints, please?"
"Of course, no problem!" She says, ducking her head as she picks up the paints. She passes them out one by one. She hands me one too, a smile on her face.
"A-ah, I already have my own set.." I trail off.
"Oh, alright."
I glance up to where Mr. Albedo is seated at his desk. I catch his eye and he smiles. I flush a bit and duck my head down. Was he looking at me? I think.
Noelle finishes passing out the paints as I fiddle with my hair, too shy to look back up.
"First, we're going to start with a reference painting so I can get a feel of what your skill level is. All you need to do is paint this bowl of fruits I've arranged at the center table. You can paint it from your reference point. Make sure to start with an outline."
This should be easy, I think. I've done more complicated things before. I do kind of want to impress him, though... I shake my head. This is just a reference painting, nothing more. He's probably seen better painters before, I won't be anything special.
---
I glance up as I hear the bell ring. That passed by much faster than I thought it would.
"Alright, everyone, we'll continue this tomorrow. Please set your paintings to dry on the racks in the back of the classroom over there."
I glance down at mine. I haven't even begun painting yet... I've only traced everything out with my pencil. When I look at some of the others' work, I see they've already started painting.
They're rushing through this, I think. Painting isn't a fast process.
I move to leave the classroom, but before I can, I hear someone call my name.
"Alright, you're all dismissed, except for you, Y/n. I'd like to speak to you for a moment."
