"No, no, no!!!" I mutter into my pillow, then groan. I had a perfect opportunity to get to know Mr. Albedo, and I just - left?! What was going through my head?! I groan again. I know there's nothing I can do about it now, but I still can't help but regret it. I push myself out of my bed and sigh. My mom is out right now, so I have the house all to myself. I decide to go outside for a walk, maybe find some inspiration. I put on my coat and lock the door behind me. As soon as I set food outside, the warm air and smell of damp leaves hits me. I inhale deeply and smile. I love this feeling - the warm sun filtering through the leaves in the trees, the breeze on my skin, the sound of chimes tinkling, and the earthy aroma as the trees shed their leaves and get ready to start the cycle all over again.
As I walk, I see little kids playing on the sidewalk, and in the driveways. I smile as I watch them chase each other around. I walk until I reach the park nearby. I sit down on the bench, and just observe everything going on around me. The trees are swaying in the wind, and little kids are playing on the playground - I can hear their squeals of joy, even from here. The warm sun on my skin relaxes my body, and my eyelids droop shut. As I'm about to drift off on the park bench, I hear a voice above me.
"Hey! The Prinzessin summons you!"
I startle out of my nap to see Fischl staring down at me.
"U-uh... hi?" I sit up, wiping a bit of drool off my mouth, feeling embarrassed. She crosses her arms, glaring down at me.
"Who allowed you to sleep on a park bench?"
"Uh, n-no one...? Sorry..." I mumble, still not quite sure how to interact with her.
She sighs and sits down next to me. "Well, alright, I suppose I'll give you permission."
Seriously, who does she think she is? "Alright, thanks..."
"The weather is quite beautiful today, is it not?" She smiles, putting her hand up to let the sun filter through her fingers. "Perfect weather for someone of high status such as me."
"Y-yeah, the weather is pretty nice..." I mumble.
She pulls out a notepad and begins sketching something. It looks like a character design of some sort. I've never seen it before, maybe it's one of her own creations. The character looks a lot like her, now that I think about it - she's sitting on a throne, elevated above the ground, one leg crossed over the other, her head leaning on her hand. She has a crown upon her head, and you can see people bowing at her feet, as she smirks down at them. It's honestly a really beautiful drawing - everything is well thought out and it really accentuates the girl on the throne's power. No wonder she's in that advanced art class.
Fischl glances up and sees me staring.
She smiles proudly, and shoves the notebook in my face. "Here is my true abode, where I used to live, until I was cast out after a disaster befell me.""That's actually a really beautiful drawing," I reply, smiling up at her over the notebook.
She looks startled for a second, then hides her mouth behind her notebook. Her eyebrows scrunch together, and I can see a small blush cover her face."Th-thanks..." she mutters, much quieter than she was before.
This is the first time she's broken character, I think."A-anyways!!" She sputters, quickly standing up. "It is time for the Prinzessin to depart! A-after all, my loyal subjects must have prepared nourishment for me in my abode!" She quickly rushes off, her notebook clutched in her hands.
What was that? I wonder.
