Mateo was trying to make coffee at Dad's espresso machine. I don't think it was working. "Guys I think we have a problem. It's not working and now it's making this 'krrsshh' sound" Mateo said.

"Ooh, dude tell you did not just break Cap's espresso maker, he had that custom-made in Italy. It's his prized possession" Marjan spoke.

"And ya'll wonder why I don't use Cap's coffee maker" I said.

"I didn't break it, Paul did" Mateo said as we looked at Paul. "Oh really?" I said.

"Mm-mm don't even try Probie. Thing was working fine when I used it" Paul said as he was drinking his coffee.

"And you probably packed the filter basket with extra five grounds and ran it on a high temp, didn't you?" Mateo complained. "I enjoy a robust cup. I'm not gonna apologise for that" Paul said.

"How many times do I have to tell you? It puts a strain on it. Probably overheated, threw off the water conditioning system" Mateo said as he kept smacking the espresso maker.

"This is why I've been saying we should just buy a coffee pot" Judd said. "Now that's what I was thinking" I said as I high-fived Judd.

Mateo was whacking the hell out of the espresso machine. "Hey, yeah there you go. Go ahead and whack it. That ought to fix it" Judd spoke as we all laughed.

I see Dad walking in. "Oh god, what am I gonna do?" Mateo was freaking out. "You're gonna do the right thing fall on your sword and tell the truth" Marjan said as I smiled.

"Hello" Dad spoke. "Hi Dad" I said casually. "Paul did it!" Mateo blurted out.

"Objection!" Paul shouted. "What?" Dad said. "See I tried to make you one of those Cap's half-caf cap, like you like but Paul over packed the filter basket" Mateo lied.

"Again wow" Paul said as I laughed and nodded my head. "No it's true. I always try to warn him that his grounds are too tight. Throws off the calibration and he broke your machine" Mateo said as Paul looked at me and held three fingers up.

Noticing that Mateo lied three times. I held up three fingers and nodded my head. "So unplug it. Get it serviced" Dad spoke as I was flabbergasted.

"So you're not mad?" Mateo asked. "At a coffee maker? Who cares?" Dad said. I frowned, I was confused.

"Did he really just say who cares?" Mateo said. "Did he really just call it a coffee maker?" Marjan said as I finished off my coffee.

"Yeah, whatever's going on with him this morning is..." Judd spoke as he stood up. "It's bad" Paul said as I nodded.

We all stood up and walked to his office.

"Hey, Cap" Mateo said. I was running up the stairs, I didn't realise that there was a window and I bumped into it. "Oh shit" I said as I held my nose. "Whoa, are you okay?" Marjan said as she helped me up.

"Yep, I'm okay... I think" I said as I stood up. "Uh, can I help you guys?" Dad spoke.

We all walked into his office and I grabbed the tissues off his desk and stuffed it up my nose. "Yeah we were actually gonna ask you the same question" Marjan said.

I sat down and loosened up a bit. "Hey if you wanna take a crack at these quarterly fire prevention and training totals, knock yourself out" Dad said as he threw the papers on his desk.

"Look I hope you're not expecting us to pretend like we don't see those dark clouds hanging over your head" Paul said. "Dark clouds? There are no clouds" Dad spoke.
