I slowly opened the door praying for her not to be there so I could as well run back to my room and hide there till Joan returns.
I poked my head out to see her sure enough seated at the bench in the front porch patiently waiting.

She nodded slightly and I blew out a deep breath.

"So. I guess this is settled."
I said and stood up.
She remained seated, glancing at me relentlessly.
