Chapter 5; Friends Don't Look At Friends that Way

At School
"How are you doing?" Nancy asks her "You know I hate that question" Mae rolls her eyes "Okay, sorry" "What are your plans for today?"  She asks putting her books away in her locker "You know, the same as usual--- visit my dead ex boyfriend's grave and visit Lucas" "You know, you and Lucas have been spending a lot of time together" "Yeah because he's been there ever since Billy died" she points out then sees the basketball team walk out of the gym "Speaking of Lucas" Nancy mumbles Mae looks at Lucas and waves at him he smiles at her "Me and him are just close friends, besides he likes Max" "Friends don't look at friends that way Mae" "Goodbye Wheeler" she says then leaving
At lunch
Mae sits alone at lunch for a little "Hey, I saw you hanging out with Munson yesterday" Jason Carver says "And?" "You should know that he killed Chrissy" "What?" She asks standing up really shocked "I saw her walking to the woods with Eddie, and I think he had drugs to help keep her parents off of her back" Mae immediately thinks that Eddie would never do this she storms over to Eddie's table where Mike, Dustin, and Max are she slams her hands scaring Dustin "Jesus" he says "Me and you, we gotta talk" Mae says looking at Eddie "Okay?" "Good luck" Gareth says
In a room
"So what do you-" "I know about you selling drugs to Chrissy Cunningham" "Who told you?" He asks "So it's true? You're selling drugs to her" "Maeve, she's going through some hard stuff right now" "That doesn't make it fucking okay to give her drugs!" she whispers yells "Mae... Please, this-" she walks out of the room he grabs her arm "Let her go" Steve says "Sorry" Eddie apologizes "Just to tell you, I never wanted to give drugs to her, she asked me, so accusing me of doing something that I don't want to is not okay" he says then leaves "What was all that about?" Steve asks "Nothing" Maeve says, she goes outside to sit on the bench she sees Lucas, he looks at her she goes to talk to him then sees him hug Max then she backs down and sits down with her back facing them Lucas feels bad now, she fidgets with her fingers that's when Dustin comes and sits by her "Hey, everything okay?" He asks, she scoffs "Perfect" she says looking down then hears Lucas and Max laughing she hears them she turns around still sitting down Dustin sees what she's looking at "Oh" he says, with Max and Lucas "So you've got any plans?" She asks smiling, Lucas zones out looking at Mae while she leaves "Lucas?" She asks waving her hand then sees him looking at her "Go talk her"
