Chapter 6 : Kindling

Adoras POV:

After the second Fire, two weeks passed and no further incidents happened, even though we assumed something would have. Huntara helped me by calling up a PI who told her they would look into the Case but can't promise anything. She gave me their Number but our only contact so far had ben via texts.

2 Weeks have now come and gone and Catra and i had last talked 2 days ago with her shift keeping her busy "The stupid lot keep stackin customers till late and double booking em ....Adora i need a vacation or i'm gonna go insane" she told me then and i laughed it off as just her usual bitching...i was wrong. While subtle, i did notice her becoming more absent minded when we met up, more in her own head or in thought when i was talking to her. I am not sure what caused her sudden behavioral change but decided that i would give her some time to tell me and only ask if it got any worse

I had a late shift tonight and my Plans were to Shower, watch some TV and get to sleep as soon as i can but the Two in front of my Apartment had different Plans. Catra stood there with Finn, waiting for me "What are you doing here? I thought you had work tonight" i ask when i notice Catra was shaking

"Can we talk..inside?" Catra says, shifting from side to side

"Sure?" i say, give Finn a smile and unlock the Door. Throwing my Jacked on the Bed i open the mini Fridge "You want something to drink? Coke, Oj or Water is all i can offer though"

"OJ!" Finn squeals and i give them a glass "Thank you"

"Catra?"

"Hmm? ohh right..whatever ye got" she says, seemingly in deep thought and looking around a lot

I hand her a Glass of Water "Are you okay? You seem kind of...off"

"Can...can Finn watch some Tv here?"

I figure she wants to talk without them knowing so I turn on the TV and hand the little one the remote "Finn, i need to talk to Catra for a moment. We are just in that room over there so you are not alone okay?"

They nod and search for the Kids channel like they have done this a lot. Catra and i go to the little room that is my Kitchen and i close the door "Okay, so what is going on?"

Catra takes her Phone out and hands it to me "I need ye to see this"

I take her Smartphone and see a Text message on the Screen

"Next time, i make sure you Burn", swiping a few times reveals a lot more "I am watching you right now", "DIE!", "I know where you are" , "Soul street 52, Mo-Fr 8 to 15 ..I know" The last one was the newest

"What's... that Address?"

"Finns Daycare and the time they go there" Catra says and i feel my Blood run cold

"Ohh....shit...Catra this is.... holy shit"

Shaking, Catra tucks on my Shirt "At first i thought they just planin to freak me out but now ...i'm actually scared, Adora....if anythin happens to Finn..."

"Nothing will happen" i say, taking her Hands in mine "We won't let it....Look i would love to tell you to Life here but i really don't have the space nor a tenth of the Security that Scor..Perfumas place can give you. The PI still has yet to call us but i think we gave them enough time by now. let's go there Tomorrow, together okay?"

Catra nods and leans her Head against my Chest "Do ye have any idea how i feel when i bring em to Daycare, thinking this might be the last time i see em? I ...i think i'm losing it, i can't sleep, i'm becoming more and more paranoid and im desperate to hide this from Finn"

I Hug her, not to tight and caress the back of her Head in a way i know she likes "I wish i could help you more..."

We stay like this for a few Minutes until Catra takes her Head off and looks up at me "Ye have no idea how much ye are helping me....when ye a with me, i can breathe" she says and kisses me, softly almost afraid i would pull away. With all my self control i stop myself from lifting her up on to my counter and just cup her Face to kiss back with more force but stop after just a few seconds, knowing this is neither the time nor the place
