Jade's pov:

Currently I am writing in my diary, like I always do every day since I got it.

Dear Diary,

Today is the final day of the summer holidays, and I would say I am joyful, but with everything going on, that would be a lie.

I am so freaking drained. My brother, Lewis, was crying for all of last night, but I can't blame him. My mother was there the whole night trying to comfort him, but it didn't help.

My mother tries so hard to keep us happy, but she knows she can't help as much as she wants to.

Ever since my father got a job in Paris, he has been in and out of our lives. Every time he comes home, he goes straight to the wine and gets drunk. He has drinking problems, and he takes his stress out by drinking and abusing me and my brother.

My mother thinks it is best if she sends us somewhere safer. I refused to though, I told my mother I couldn't leave her there with my so-called father. It is dangerous there.

My father got worse when he heard the news that his mother died. A few weeks ago, she passed, but I didn't see her often, and Lewis only met her once. He was getting so violent that my brother wanted to kill himself, I would hate myself forever it I let that happen.

My mother knew she had to do something, so she called the police and now my father is in jail. I never thought that a father could do something like this, make his children scream in pain for what the sake of anger. I never thought my life would be like this, in pain, in danger, my brother's life to be, in pain, to be feeling like he wanted to die.

Well,I have to start to pack for school after dinner, which my mother just said was ready. So I guess I will have to write on the train or in my room when I get to Hogwarts.
