Life had been good for Kit for the past month in Woodbury, at least she thought so. Taking up a steady job nursing again, taking a young boy who was eager to learn under her wing and even taking up the occasional one-night stand. with the same guy of course but nothing was ever spoken enough to be more as it became apparent that they were both private people. Hell, her manic episode was even brushed under the rug by merle Dixon himself as it sparked the idea to have the citizens have an arena of sorts to lets off their anger towards the dead. Kit didn't worry about it before but as she sat in her old bed at her new house just outside of Atlanta, she wasn't so sure. maybe she should have taken though hallucinations more seriously.
She sat up further to scoot out of the bed when her struggle was met with the view of a pregnant belly, her heavily pregnant belly. Kit sucked in a harsh confused breath as she scooted herself out of the bed as quickly as possible to get to the bath mirror. But even in the new room, new lighting her belly was still there. "What the fuck" she whispered to herself as her fingers grazed the bump, just staring confused. the last she remembered was purposely being an ass to merle as they were supposed to go out and check out one last place before winter hit. but now she wasn't so sure. was it a dream? Kit fought off the strong emotional sword swung at her as she felt a small kick. Was is all a dream? She knew she wasn't the best at playing nice lately, but could her own mind play karma on herself?
Overcome with a sudden primal hunger kit rushed downstairs to make herself a grilled cheese. personally, it wasn't what she would have picked normally but she just really wanted it. Kit hummed in contentment as the warm food started to fill her body. "How's my little bird and her duckling this morning" a male voice chimed before placing a kiss on her head as they passed. Kits neck harshly kinked as it snapped to Shane watching her expectantly as he set an old coffee mug in the sink. An Action that would have been normal. or is normal? "Baby you good, you're looking a little pale?" he questioned scrunching up his eyebrows as he looked at her.
"You've never been here." Kit said shortly, looking around to make sure this was in-fact the house she had bought.
"What on earth are you talking about?" shane chuckled, one hand on his hip, the other running thru his hair.
"This house." she pointed aggressively at the ground. "You were never here. the walk thru you ditched for a shift and when I moved in we weren't even talking?!" she explained beginning to panic
"Sweetheart we moved in together the same day. I missed the walk thru, but I trusted your judgment, we've been thru this." he coaxed taking a step forward, she took a step back.
"No. NO, we weren't talking at the time. Walkers. what about the walkers?!" she pleaded, she wasn't crazy she couldn't be, her brain was her pride and joy it couldn't be failing her, right?
"Walkers? like what the old people use?" shane snorted "You dreaming about work now?"
"The dead shane! the fucking dead people walking around!"
"you really need to stop staying up so late and watching those horror films." shane sighed, shaking his head.
"Horror-" Kit scoffed shaking her head "Okay then what about Lori?" she questioned.
"What about Lori?" Shane questioned really not interested.
"You knocked her up." she said bluntly, crossing her arms.
"Knocked her-" Shane abruptly burst out laughing " Baby you're the one I knocked up, I ain't going near that. Hell Rick isn't even going near it anymore." he continued before turning to refill his coffee mug "Lord i knew the doctor said pregnancy inspired wild dreams but da-" his voice was abruptly cut off as his body dropped to the ground.
"Shit" kit cursed "Fucking shit" She cursed herself dropping the still warm pan. she stared wide eyed at shane's form and only then took in his deputy uniform. " Well shit." she scoffed running a hand down her face, her hand abruptly freezing on her chin as the door bell rang. she scowled at Shane before approaching the door with her best smile.
"Goodmorning" she greeted with a sweet smile that faulted immediately seeing dean on the other side of the door. "Oh um Dean hello."
"Hello Mrs. Walsh, Here to fix that heater, unless of course this is another pipe call." he winked with a smug smile.
"I. I. I um have no need today its already fixed." she blushed diverting the conversation.
"Well I would be happy to-"
"no, no todays not a good day. my uh- Shane's home, yeah Shane's home."
"yikes" he chuckled "Next week then" he winked walking back to his utility truck.
"Yeah next week." kit scowled her eyes narrowing towards the kitchen. she was incredibly confused. this wasn't the world she remembered, not her Shane and certainly not pregnant.
She sharply turned back towards her bedroom and throwing on some clothes before storming out of the house. She didn't know where she was going, not at first at least but when she threw her jeep in park she recognized it immediately. It was the woods just outside of king county where her father had always taken her to hunt. it was where she learned everything that has kept her fed enough to stay alive. or at least in her dreams?
Kit side eyed a rusty orange truck with a bike on a trailer a hitch, she couldn't remember where she had seen it but she knew it struck deep. But instead of investigating and denying her inquisitive mind she walked into the woods, tucking her gun in the back of her jeans. she walked forever till she found a tree, a specific tree her and her father carved into. her fingers trailed the bark of the aspen where their initials sat, a faint smile gracing her face. A light in the confusion. suddenly her instincts had her ripping her gun free and cocking it in half a second when a branch snapped. her target, a familiar unkept redneck with piercing blue eyes also pointing a crossbow at her.
