Longing for Unrequited Love

I long for a touch that's not mine to hold,
A heart that beats for another's hold,
My mind and soul, they ache and fold,
As I think of the one I cannot mold.

His smile, his laugh, they haunt my dreams,
My heart, it cries, or so it seems,
For I know I can't have what's not mine,
But my heart yearns for him all the time.

I see him happy with another,
And though it hurts, I can't but wonder,
If he could ever see me the same,
And we could kindle a love that's not in vain.

But for sure, I know it's just a dream,
A wishful thought, a silent scream,
For I must accept the truth and move on,
Though the pain of missing him lingers on.
