Chapter 4

"Are you picking me up tomorrow?" I asked Ryan through FaceTime, picking out my outfit for the next day

"Do you want me to pick you up?" He asked, typing away on his computer,

"If you can, then yes, it's supposed to rain and I don't want to walk in the rain." I picked out a pair of leggings with my grey long sleeve that fit me very loose and I planned to wear my purple Hunter boots.

"Sure, but you owe me breakfast." Ryan joked as he continued to type.

"Sure why not, bring Sarah too!" I lay back down on my bed and brought the phone to my face.

"Ryan, what the hell are you typing?" I tried to see what was on his computer but his camera was only pointed to his face.

"I'm writing an essay." Ryan grumbled, turning to look at the camera

"You're doing homework?!" I feigned shock, placing my hand on my heart.

"Ha ha very funny," He rolled his eyes "The only reason I'm doing this is because baseball season is coming up, and I can't play If my grades suck." He turned back to his computer and read through his essay before closing the tab.

"Are you trying out for softball this year?" He asked, picking up his phone and walking to his bean bag chair, plopping down. I sighed, staying silent for a moment.

"I don't know Ryan; it's been a while since I've played." I was the starting varsity pitcher my freshmen year, but the accident happened around the time of tryouts last year and I hadn't played since.

"C'mon Carson! It'll be fun; we can practice tomorrow after school with Sarah. We'll go to the indoor facility if it rains!" I thought about it for a moment, finally giving in. "Fine you goof, I'll go, but it doesn't mean I'm trying out." He smirked, getting up from his bean bag chair and walked into the bathroom.

"What are you doing?" I asked in horror as I see him open the toilet seat.

'"I have to pee." He laughed, putting the camera back on his face.

"RYAN!" I quickly hung up, not wanting to see or hear what he was about to do. A moment later my phone buzzes and I see a message from Ryan.

Ryan: Don't worry, I wouldn't actually show you my goodies (; be ready to go at 6:50 tomorrow morning.

I rolled my eyes, heading to my bathroom to shower and brush my teeth before bed. Ryan was such a dork sometimes.

••••••••••••••••••••

I work up to my alarm blasting Lips are moving by Meghan Trainor, a song that always put me in a good mood. I rolled over in my bed praying that I could sleep in for another 10 minutes, but then I remembered that Ryan was going to pick me up at 6:50. I looked at my phone and saw that it was 6:30, which meant I couldn't lounge around in bed like I'd like to. I sighed and kicked off my covers, quickly making my bed so my room looked neat. I pulled on my clothes and walked to the bathroom to brush my teeth and put my makeup on. I kept it natural, just applying some blush and mascara, finishing off my look by filling in my eyebrows and adding some chapstick. I threw my hair into a ponytail, teasing it a bit to give it a messy look. Before grabbing my softball bag and my book bag, I packed shorts, sneakers, and a t-shirt for practice after school. I walked outside, locking the door behind me since Jenna was still sleeping from her night shift, and waited for Ryan.

"C'mon loser, we're going shopping!" Sarah called out, quoting mean girls as they pulled up into our driveway.

"I wish!" I called back, jogging to Ryan's car so I wouldn't get soaked. I threw my stuff into the trunk then shuffled into the back seat, snapping on my seat belt.
