The bright beams of headlights and taillights illuminated the field which was teeming with activity. As I drove into the field and off the tarmac road I searched for somewhere to park. To be more specific, I was looking for a place to park near a Mustang. Not any mustang but Lucy's Mustang.
I had to find Lucy, I knew why she was in Tenerife but she didn't explain why she had Adrians phone. It wasn't me just over thinking the situation; there had to be a reason for it. Who just takes their bosses phone? Adrian thinks tactical and when I'm not there 'little Miss Secretary' is the one he turns to for tactical advice, there definitely was a reason.
As I searched the field I spotted the cherry gloss coated Mustang among a fleet of muscle cars. None could compete with Lucy's though, the others were nice but not my style. She liked her car exterior just as I liked mine; a car with a clean and simple body kit, layered with a simple paint job and no stickers. I didn't have anything against stickers but I guess I grew up; the fancy artwork wasn't as appealing as it was before. It was always more of my brothers thing.
Damn, I hated the fact that Lucy and I had similar taste. I didn't want to be anything like her: an evil manipulative seducer.
Slowly I moved into the space between the Mustang and a classic Chevrolet Super Sport. Coming to a stand still I admired the craftsmanship of who ever brought the car up to date. The matte black paintwork made the car look exquisite and the distinct 'ss' on the grill really made the car unique. It was nice but chrome window frames would have gave it the perfect finish. In the darkness it looked like a shadow and that added a certain mystique to it.
Looking out of my car and into the Chevrolet I smiled and gave a nod of approval to the driver. I was surprised to see that it was a young man in the drivers seat. It was rear to see the youth admiring classic American muscle when there were tuners, exotics and new muscle cars available. Wow, that makes me sound old.
Still smiling I turned my gaze to the left and into the greyish-blue eyes of my co-worker. Her hair, which was a mixture of blonde and brown, fell in loose curls around her pale face. She may have had an innocent face but behind that was a twisted demon. Yeah sure she helped others a lot and nearly everyone liked her, it didn't change the fact she was evil. If only everyone else knew her secret.
"Hey Lucy," I said breaking away from my thoughts.
"Hey," she paused and cringed before continuing, "Ms Fletcher."
I laughed, whenever I told her not to call me by my first name she would deliberately do it. Why was she being so respectful all of a sudden?
"Sorry what? I thought you said Ms Fletcher for a moment there."
"Haha very funny," she rolled her eyes, got out of her car and leaned in close.
"Look Adrian doesn't want anyone knowing that you're the-" looking down she cleared her throat before continuing "the executive assistant."
"Ermm Ok, and how is calling me Ms Fletcher going to prevent anyone from knowing?"
"Wow, others may see you as a genius but you really can't join the dots, can you? Everyone here is going to be called by their last name, come on you know how it works. They're just-"
"Last names and numbers on a piece of paper. All of them have a numbers on their heads; a money figure. Blah, blah, blah. Yeah I know. Well then, I guess I don't know your name."
I then paused as I realised that as I'm not the executive assistant I don't know Lucy.
"Ok. Hi there nice to meet you," I put my arm out the window to shake her hand.
